Entry 6
I finally made it home and the situation is worse than I imagined. Nixie is in really bad shape. I’ve never seen her looking so frail and helpless. Her face is bruised and she has several white casts covering her various broken bones.
The really bad news is the coma. She hasn’t woken up since the car accident. The doctors are hopeful that she will, but they just don’t seem to know enough right now to give us any assurances. Their speeches are full of words like “swelling of the brain,” “hopeful that she will wake up,” and “might regain her faculties.” These phrases are not comforting in the slightest.
I feel like screaming at them that they must be confused. They must be talking about someone else… not my vivacious, full-of-life sister. The Nixie I have always known just doesn’
