Being Appreciated

480 Words
Tuesday comes and basically mimics Monday. At lunch I check my personal email and see I have several responses from clients. I open them and begin responding to them. There really were some great ones. Dad comes by to check to see what I am doing on break. He is reading the emails behind me. “Sounds like they lost a good one, kid!” Can’t say I blame them for being upset you left. You work hard to accommodate them and I know you were close to several.” “Thanks dad! Yah its crazy how they responded. I left them all in capable hands though.” I say this as I get to Mr. Hughes email. I open it up and it is a video. I click on it and opens up. Awe it's the Mr. Hughes, his wife Clara and daughter Sophie telling me hello and how much they will miss me this August but hope to see me soon. I decide I will send them a video later this evening. I loved their daughter Sophie who is now 14. She is so smart, talented and funny. We always had a lot of fun together when her dad decided to have crazy business trips in the oddest places. I click out of the video and see a photo attachment. I open it up to see a photo of a really handsome guy. Tall, olive skin, dark hair with deep brown eyes. Has a clean rugged look to him as he is a black and white tuxedo. Unsure who this is, I go back to the email. I see where Mr. Hughes stated, “Meet my nephew, Nate. Taken at my niece's wedding last weekend. Handsome, right? At this point my dad is staring at me in disbelief and I am just laughing. Mr. Hughes really is trying. “Have you met his nephew before?” My dad asks “No, he was studying abroad in Greece and then I know after graduation he went to Singapore for the family business the following year. He must have recently gotten back. They are good people, dad. But honestly I have no interest in men right now. I have work to do here, after doing my own thing for several years.” “Ok, honey. I just want you to be happy, but I also don’t want you disappearing for some guy overseas. We just got you back!” “I won’t daddy, I promise!” Lunch is over, so I decide to respond to Mr. Hughes' email later. I have some work to finish so I can go meet Mia for dinner. I get through all the folders Aunt Patsy handed me for the day. With that, I go ahead tell everyone bye and let dad know I am going out for dinner.
