I hear my phone buzzing, so I get out to see 4 text messages. One was from Mia, checking in on me, asking if I wanted to have dinner tomorrow night so we can catch up on our weekend encounters. I texted her back, stating I would meet her at Mabels at 5pm. The other 3 were from Weston. I am unsure if I even want to open this up and read what's inside. I decide to head downstairs and grab a glass of wine first. Jackson and Lacey are in the kitchen eating dessert and just look at me.
“One glass is not enough tonight? HuH sis?” Lacey punches him in the shoulder.
“Possibly not” as I look back at my phone, puzzled. “ Hey, what do you know about Weston and his dad having a falling out, while I was away. I can’t imagine that actually happening.”
I see those 2 look at each other with wide eyes like I was not supposed to notice. Jackson coughs and looks at me “Where did you hear that?”
“I overheard dad talking to him Sunday evening about forgiving him, but then they started to talk about business. Just curious, as it seems everything was ok with everyone when I got home. And no one has told me about any family drama happening.”
“Well, there was an argument, but I’m still not really sure what it was about. I am sure if you just ask Weston, he will tell you.”
“Okay then. Well have a good night!”
I head back to my room with my wine and phone, knowing they are hiding something from me. I won’t pry for now, but maybe I will ask Weston when he gets back. I now look back at my phone and open the text. “Hello, beautiful!” next…. “ Hope your first day back in the family business was good.” next…. I heard we were doing our joint family dinner Wednesday night. Can’t wait to see you!”
Is this man trying to drive me crazy? I throw my phone down on the bed and take a sip of my wine. Well the sip turned into the whole glass. Well s**t - now I’m out. Ugh! I decided to pick up my phone to respond. I tell myself, Short and sweet Sam. “Day was good. Safe travels home”
Shit! I see the dots…… “Sweet Dreams.” I turn my phone off and throw my head into my pillow and scream! The nerve of him! I made up my mind to talk to him. Lay out the rules that we are colleagues and family friends only. Set boundaries, I need him to have boundaries or I fear I will end up shattered like years before.
