Chapter 10 Skylar’s (P.O.V.) “I KILLED MY DAD! I’M THE REASON HE’S DEAD. IS THAT WHAT YOU WANTED TO HEAR?!” Sam shouted out to me. I had no idea what to say to that. I may have been forcing Sam to open up, only because he seemed so nervous about his scars. “Sam, I’m sure you didn’t kill your Dad.” “You weren’t there. You don’t know what happened.” “Then tell me.” He stayed silent so I carried on. “Sam, if what you said was true, I’m guessing your family wouldn’t be around you like they are. You working with Seth, calling your mum for recipes. You seem to have a good relationship with them. I’m sorry you feel like this, please just talk to me.” I pleaded with him. “No I can’t.” “Can’t or won’t?” “I can’t Sky, not now.” His voice breaks, breaking my heart with it. I nodded my head, I wasn’t going to push him. I was slightly hurt that he didn’t seem to trust me enough to talk to me. Especially after what happened on his couch. “Okay, Sam. I’m sorry for pushing, I didn’t mean to cause you any pain.” I didn’t know what to do, now I felt awkward standing in his living room, eight feet away from him. I walked up to him and wrapped my arms around his mid-section, wanting to feel close to him physically, hating the distance. I loved the feel of him, he was hard physically, but a complete mush when it came to his feels and thoughts. Feeling his arm tighten around me, I smiled and held onto him for dear life, happy with the knowledge that he let me touch him, knowing no other person had the privilege. “Well…” I smiled nervously up at him. “I should go if I’m gonna make it back home before it gets too late.” He tried to interpret me but I kissed him quickly on the mouth, happy he kissed me back. “Thank you for dinner Sam, I enjoyed tonight. Thank you for trusting me, I know it wasn’t easy.” “I don’t want you to leave Sky, please don’t leave.” “I never planned on staying over Sam and we both have work tomorrow. I’ll come back, we’ll see each other sometime this week, maybe after you come back from Glasgow. If you wanted to, it’s okay if you didn’t… I’d like to see you though.” “I want to see you, I wish I didn’t have to leave the city.” He dropped his forehead to mine, I lifted my hand to brush along his nape, tangling my fingers in his hair. “That feels nice.” I hummed back in response. “I’m sorry for shouting at you, angel. Tonight has meant so much to me, you have to know that I’ve never… no one has ever reacted to me like you have. I need more time, to tell you…to tell you what happened.” “It’s okay, I understand. Sorry for pushing.” “You didn’t push, I’m not mad at you. In fact I want to do nothing more than to drag you back to the couch and finish up what we started.” “And ruin a perfectly good couch?” He laughed and shook his head at me. He had no idea just how inexperienced I was in that field. Although, before it never crossed my mind that I was a virgin, with Sam it came naturally. “Listen, I have to tell you something…” “What is it?” He looked at me tenderly. “I um… I- I.” I was a babbling fool, I was embarrassed and so scared that if Sam found out, he may not bother with someone like me. I could turn out to be the shittest lay he’d ever had and with my body issues, I wouldn’t be able to give myself up to him completely. He could see the panic in my eyes and brought his hands to my faces, his thumbs caressing my cheeks. “Hey. Hey, it’s okay Sweetheart. It looks like we both have some things to talk about and we will, after I come back from Glasgow, I promise we’ll talk. Whatever you have to say or show me, it won’t change how I feel about you. I like you a lot. It won’t change anything.” “You say that now.” “And I’ll say it again. I trust you. Do you trust me?” I looked at him square in the eyes, knowing he’s asked this question before. Can I trust him? This man, who is so out of my league, so beautiful, inside and out seems interested in me? I must have saved a saint in my past life to deserve to be here with him now. He said we would talk, he would tell me the truth about the accident and I would tell him about me and my issues. “Yes, I trust you.” “Good.” He kissed me hard on the lips, staying a beat longer before pulling back. “Let me get my keys, I’ll drive you home.” “I’ll get the tube Sam, you don’t have to leave your house.” “Nope, no girlfriend of mine is getting the tube home at 9pm at night.” “So I’m your girlfriend now?” “Yes, got a problem with that?” “No, not at all. I just need to tell my other boyfriends about you first.” He slapped me on the arse, which made me squeak. “Sunshine, the only boyfriend who can satisfy you and your need for good food and chocolate… is me.” “Don’t forget to who made you that toffee cheesecakes Mr.” “Which by the way is staying here, I need something to tide me over until Friday.” I laughed and shoved him to the side, collecting my shoes off the floor and pulling them onto my feet. “Don’t forget to give Willy a piece, I promised him in the car.” “Urgh, why do I need to share with him.” He mock complained. “Because you’re a nice person and Willy is equally lovely and deserves a piece of yummy cheesecake.” “Are you crushing on my driver?” Sam took his car keys from the many hooks in his hall way entrance and he grabbed my coat and bag and held my hand whilst waiting for the elevator to the car park. “Because if you are, I’d have to say he’s a bit too old for you.” “Damn, that’s my chance gone.” I gave him a wink. “Did you know the first electric elevator was built in 1880. Fact of the day.” “How do you remember these random facts?” “I read, you know a book, newspaper. This thin material with words on.” “ Ha ha. I must remember to find one of these thin material things with words on them. They might insight me on how to handle a sarcastic girlfriend.” “You don’t need a book for that, just ask me.” “Okay, teach me oh wise one.” We made it to a fire engine red, Lexus LC, a car I hadn’t seen before. Sam opened my door and helped me inside. This was the fanciest car I’ve ever been in, I was scared to breathe in case I broke something. The interior was all black leather, with an impressive tech board, lights and buttons. Sam came around and sat in the drivers’ seat, putting the key into the car. Immediately lights sprang and flashed a few times on the dashboard on and I felt like I was in an alien spaceship. “Do you disco in this car?” “Only by myself and to specific 80’s pop music. Want to join me sometime?” He replied back with humour in his voice. “I’d rather poke my eyes babe, but I’m sure George will love it.” He laughed and turned onto the road, leading towards my apartment. Still holding my hand, our conversation was pleasant and teasing, I felt I could be my goofy self around him and he gave it back to me just as much. It was a side I wanted to see of him every day. I held his left hand and rubbed my thumbs over the crimpled skin, loving the texture. It didn’t bother me one bit that his skin was different. It bothered me about how it happened but I was going to be there for him when he would finally tell me and I only hope he could. I brought his hand up to my lips, kissing the back of his hand with little pecks, then placing it on my lap until Sam parked outside my apartment. “Want to come in to say hi to George?” “Sure.” He cut off the engine, left the car and came over to my side to help me out. “I can exit a car by myself you know.” I teased. “Humour me angel.” We made it upstairs and once I was inside, I could hear the faint sounds of music from my living room. Sam came behind me and wrapped his arms around me, whilst making our way through. I giggled at his slight tickling when I stopped dead in my tracks, noticing George wasn’t alone on the couch. “George?” He looked at me and smiled. My eyes moved over to the other man “Seth?” “Sam?” Seth said. “Seth?” Sam responded back to him. “Sky?” George asking, seemingly confused, his eyes darting back and forth between us three. “What are you doing here?” I ask Seth, going over to him to give him a quick hug. “I uh, came to see George. What are you doing here?” “I live here, George and are flatmates. He also happens to be my best friend.” Seth looked at me and smiled wide, looking similar to Sam for a moment. “Small world. I see you brought in a stray.” He gestured to the man behind me. I looked back at Sam and saw him rolling his eyes and shaking hands with George. Sam pulled me back to his chest and caged me in his arms, kissing the top of my head. “I can see George is giving his time to charity. That’s nice of you.” I slapped his hand. “Ignore him. I’m sorry we interrupted, I didn’t know you’d be here Seth.” Seth walked over to George and took his hand, when my brain suddenly zapped back to working again, that I realised George’s mystery man is Seth, Sam’s brother. I was thrilled for them, I knew both men were both loyal and considerate people, so they looked perfect for each other. I smiled widely at them, happy for my best friend and my boyfriend’s brother. “I was actually gonna head home.” Seth said to George. “Oh, please don’t leave because I’m here!” Suddenly wishing I stayed at Sam’s. His arms tightening around me for comfort. “It’s okay Sky, I have an early meeting anyway, I just came over to spend some time with George before I left for Glasgow. And since my baby bro is here now, he can drop me off home.” Seth said, while grinning at Sam. George and I laughed at Sam’s expression. “Okay we’ll give you guys some time, it was great to see you again Seth.” I grabbed Sam’s hand and dragged him into my bedroom. When the door closed, I realised it was Sam’s first time in my apartment and bedroom. I was suddenly conscious of any mess, I rushed around my room, moving things and making my desk and shelves tidy. Sam moved over to my art desk and looked at my drawings and photographs. “I’ll never get tired of your art. There’s always something new I find about what you do.” I came up behind him and wrapped my arms around, placing my hands on his stomach. “If there’s anything you like, you can have it. It’s all yours.” He chuckled and turned in my arms, kissing me on the head. “All I want is you sunshine. Day and night.” “Mmm… I like the sound of that.” We both looked at each other, feeling relaxed in each other’s arms. I leaned up to kiss him whilst he bent down to meet me half way. The kiss started out slow and calm, our tongues intertwining together and we played with each other’s mouth for a few more minutes, before I felt his hands on my arse, lifting me up to straddle him, so I wrapped my legs around his waist. I could feel the outline of his c**k through his jeans, I wanted to feel it bare, I wanted nothing more in that moment. He walked a few paces towards my bed and bent down to place me on top. Our mouths still trying to get familiar with each other, my legs still tightly wrapped around his waist and in this position I could feel our cores pressed together. I titled my hips further, causing both of us to moan. His hand found its way to my top and he was slowly bringing the material up, his fingers barely touching skin when I realised what was happening. I sucked in breath and stopped his hand. “Your brother is in the next room Sam, we can’t.” I couldn’t give a s**t that we weren’t fully alone. He couldn’t touch my stomach, not now. I gripped his hand tighter, my heartbeat in my throat. He nodded and kissed me again, long and slow. He brought his lips to my cheek, down my neck, trailing kisses behind my ear and back to my lips. I smiled when kept pecking my lips, giggling when he didn’t and laughing harder when he started to laugh. “I hate that I’m not going to see you until Friday.” Sam mumbled against my lips. “I hate it too. I’ve practically seen you every day. You’ll text me though right?” “Every minute if I can. I’ll phone you too?” “Yes please.” I smiled up at him, kissing him once one. “You should go, you have Seth to drop off now. I didn’t know about him and George, it was a nice surprise.” “Me neither, Seth is quite private, so he rarely talks about his relationships. He mentioned a friend but I assumed it really was just a friend. Now I’m beginning to think it was your flatmate.” “Well, they seem happy together. I’m pleased for them.” “Me too. Right-.” He groaned and stood up, taking my hand with him so I was in a seating position. “I’m off. I’ll ring you tomorrow, are you at the hospital this week?” I nodded “tomorrow and Thursday, since I have a teacher meeting Wednesday night.” He kissed me once more and walked to my door, looking back at me. “Okay, if you need anything, just call, text, Skype or something. Bye angel, see you Friday.” He opened and closed my door before I could respond to him. I huffed and fell back onto my bed, staring at my ceiling. Tonight has been draining and wonderful, but there was still so much to discover between us that I hope to all of heaven it was going to go well. I was already a goner when it came to Sam, he captured my heart and it was his. Friday couldn’t arrive quick enough. It’s only been 30 seconds since he left, I’m so screwed.
