Chapter 3

MASON -Nothing can bring you peace but yourself- I was exhausted with pack works and meetings. I fell on the bed and suddenly those all things came back. I was so stupid that I let it happen. I never wanted her as my mate because she was weak and she couldn’t even shift. Xander was my best friend and though she was his sister, he hated her. He told everyone that she killed their parents hence everyone turned against her. Sometimes I felt bad for the way everyone treated her but it was because of our mate bond. I broke it the time when I realized that she was my mate but she didn’t.  My wolf was craving for his mate. She was gone for more than 3 weeks by now. A part of me was restless. I stared at the ceiling thinking about the same thing over and over again in my head. Suddenly the door opened and Xander came running, “Mason….” He stopped to catch his breath. I stood up alarmed and went to him, “What happened? Why are you so shaky?" “She is not my sister.” He stated and I was confused. “What? What are you talking about?” I asked him and made him sit on the couch. “Genevieve! She is not my sister.” He mumbled and there was a pain in his eyes. “What do you mean? What are you talking about?” He steadied his breath and started, “I went to my old house to find the necklace which belonged to my mom. I found my Dad’s diary there. I didn’t even know he used to write one. I read every single page and then I realized that…” “Then who is she?” I was shocked by this all information. “Do you know that story of the ‘lost royal’?” he turned towards me. Off course I knew that story. My mom told me that so many times. There was a royal family; it was still there who were ruling werewolves as well as lycans. The king and queen had a daughter but one-day rogue attacked the palace and in all that chaos they lost the princess. She was their only daughter and she was gone. Everybody tried to find her after that but couldn’t. Some even said that she was safe somewhere but royals didn’t want anyone to know about this so they pretended to search but actually knew her place. Nobody has ever heard about the lost princess till date. I nodded remembering the story. He looked dead in my eye and said, “Genevieve is the lost princess.” I was more than shocked to hear that. “My parents were her guards. They brought her home after the attack when she was only a few months old. They told everyone that she was their daughter. They cared for and loved her the same way they did to me. She is still unaware of this whole thing.” My head fell in my palms as I processed the whole information. ‘My mate is royal. She came from the strongest blood line that was ever existed and I rejected her.’ “The night my mom dad died, it wasn’t her fault. She tried to help them when a group of rogue attacked but she was unable to do anything. She wasn’t responsible for their death. She wasn’t.” he started crying because of guilt. We made her go through so much pain and grief for false reasons. She suffered although she did nothing wrong. My heart ached when I realized what I had done. I pushed her to the outer world where evil was lurking out to harm her. She was in danger and she didn’t have the slightest idea of that. I was numb. I was the worst mate anyone could ever have. I hurt her in so many ways. I slept with random girls knowing it would kill her. I just wanted her to suffer for that moment but now everything changed. “What are we going to do now, Mason?” Xander asked me. “We are going to find her. We need to find her.” I stood up from the couch and mind-linked my trackers to come into the office immediately. Everyone gathered in my office. I needed to tell them the truth but they were some of my best men. Xander was still blaming himself for everything. “I know it’s really late but it is important. I need you to find your Luna.” I said. Their jaws dropped to the ground when they heard that because everyone was sure that I still hadn’t found her. I sighed and told them about Genevieve being Royal and my mate. They all swore to keep it a secret. After some time they left and I ran my hand through my hair. I was stupid. I cursed under my breath. Xander left the room in a gloomy state. I mind-linked Sam, his mate, to find him. I was beyond restless. I didn’t know where Genevieve was but I knew that she won’t forgive me so easily. I broke her beyond repair. I was guilty. “I was telling you. Every time you hurt her, I was trying to tell you.” My wolf growled at me. “Just shut up and let me find her.” “She wouldn’t forgive us easily and her wolf is hurt, I can feel it.” “Her wolf? She doesn’t have one.” I furrowed my brows in confusion. “Of course she has. She hasn’t shifted yet doesn’t mean she doesn’t have one.” “But how is it possible? You don’t meet your wolf until you shift.” “She is special and so is her wolf.” And then he disappeared in the back of my mind. I wanted answers but he didn’t give any. I made a terrible mistake, I was sure of it.
