Washington D.C.“T he samples arrived early this morning. They are being analyzed at Edgewood Chemical and Biological Center right now.” The man who calls himself Bayer sat at the end of a long, polished table in the White House Situation Room and shoved a sheaf of photographs toward the men seated around the table on either side of him. “Those are photos our courier took of the containers used to transport the stuff out of Syria. There’s not much to see, just three little glass jars.” Bayer waited while the President’s various civilian and military advisors passed the photos around the table. “I’ll call your attention to the third of those containers—the one on the far right in the photos.” While everyone focused, he reached for a stack of transcripts he had copied before leaving Langley
