Johnson and Vic had only been back in Islamabad for less than a day when they were called in to Robert Watson’s office in the CIA station on the third floor of the United States embassy. The embassy, rebuilt after being torched by marauding Islamic protesters in 1979, now housed a somewhat generic collection of office suites, like any other government office in the world.
