Vulnerable Alphas

"May I help?" I spoke. Rowan immediately shook his head. "No, whatever this is, it's dangerous. We couldn't risk you getting caught up in all of this." He shot me down almost immediately. "Go home, Little One, we will deal with this." My lips dipped into a frown, but I couldn't challenge them. How could I? As if seeing my reluctance, Rowan pursed his lips, "Go on. Go home, get enough sleep for classes tomorrow." "... Okay," I dipped my head, my body turning to leave. "Stellie?" "Yeah?" "Don't worry. We'll let you know what we find out." I nodded, "Thank you, Alpha...all of you." I then left the room, promptly going back home. - It turned out it wasn't so bad being under the protection of the Alphas while at Lycan. If it meant other Alphas wouldn't try to claim me, then that was more than fine with me. I could always push away the thought of having to deal with those three Alphas later. Eventually, it will catch up to me, and I'm sure it'll be sooner than later. Especially with my heat approaching. "Stella? Do you mind if I joined you at lunch?" Nina whispered over to me while Alpha Devon wrote something on the chalkboard. I nodded, though my brows did pull together, "Of course, I don't mind." She exhaled in relief and the worry in her eyes slowly disappeared. Curiosity got the better of me, "May I ask why?" "It's just..." she looked around at the other Omegas scribbling notes in their books before turning back to me, "Two Alphas found me in heat yesterday," I gasped, and Alpha Devon turned around, her arched brow aimed at me. "Is everything alright, Stella?" "Yes, Alpha, sorry Alpha." I squeaked. "You are forgiven." I turned back to Nina and mouthed, 'What?!' She nodded, "I'll tell you later." She whispered. - Lunch ended up taking forever to come. Either it was that or I was just excited to hear what Nina said. When she finally sat next to me, the small talk Alistair tried making with me immediately faded away. I scooted closer to her as I took small bites of the apple in my hand. A blush formed on her cheeks, a pretty pink which extended out to her pale ears before she spoke, her voice soft as it always was. "It came on faster than I expected, so I tried hiding out in an empty classroom...it was as empty as I thought. Two Alphas were in there smoking a cig..." "Did you..." I lingered. She shook her head, "No, to my surprise, they ended up leaving, but... I've never seen Alphas like that before." "Like what?" "Vulnerable, almost." My brows furrowed. Vulnerable Alphas. Those two words usually didn't go together. In all my life living in this pack, I've seen my fair share of mating and in all of them the Alphas have always maintained their dominance. It was almost wrong if they were anything but strong. "They haven't taught you how to shield yet?" Alistair butted in and I swallowed. Did he have to be so obvious at eavesdropping? Just yet another thing Alphas had no problem doing, involving themselves in things that have nothing to do with them. I pushed my thoughts to the side before it began reading on my face. I've lived my entire life being exactly what they've deemed me to be. I couldn't let anything else shine through. Nina nodded, "Yes, Alpha, I'm sorry, I'm not that good at it." She lowered her head in shame. A soft smile graced his lips, "That's alright, don't worry about it. This one over here isn't that great either. You'll get better." I looked off to the side, searching for a familiar face, but it didn't show. "Do you know where he is? Alpha Caleb?" Alistair's smile dipped a little as he shook his head, "He doesn't want you to worry, Stella. He's busy."
