Chapter 13: Confrontation

Percy POV

The gods had already assembled. Well except Ares and Zeus. Maybe Ares was still in the infirmary. I actually felt guilty and sorry for him. But hey, if someone comes and try to steal your girl, you would have done the same thing like me right?

A lightning bolt suddenly came out from nowhere and hit Zeus's throne. When the smoke disappeared, sitting there was Zeus with a proud face.

"Huh, Drama Queen" I muttered.

That got all the gods close to me to be snickered. Lucky for me that they didn't tell him or Zeus heard it, because if those things happen, Zeus would burn me to ash.

"Where is Ares" Zeus demanded Apollo.

Sometimes I feel bad for him. If anything happens on Olympus, the 2 people that everyone would point their finger at are Apollo and Hermes. Well, that's true because one is a King of Pranks and the other is Trouble Maker. They always are the cause of many bad things.

"Uh, he's recovering. he should awaken soon" Apollo replied.

Zeus nodded in displeasure. Why does he like that Violent Brain anyway? I couldn't understand. Everyone on Olympus hates him.

Zeus turned to me "Perseus, your performance was really impressive," he continued "as I've promised that the winner will become the future husband of Artemis. Now you can take your prize."

I know Zeus didn't like me to marry Artemis. Considering that I've beaten his son up, that would've made our relationship become worse. But I didn't like it either. Well, I didn't expect that I would have won that match or even getting married to Arty. My plan was just to save her from marrying Ares, but now his spot has come to me. Deep down I really wanted to accept. Who would not right? And she is the only one that I loved too. Artemis was just looking at her laps. I felt sorry for her. She didn't like it too but her father was too dumb to understand his daughter.

"I'm sorry my lord. But my deal between Ares and me was just to have Artemis. It doesn't say anything about marrying her. So she is free from it now and forever" I said

I know that was stupid. How could you deny a good offer such as that right? But I knew that she didn't like it and I would never force her and to do something she not likes. If I marry her, that marriage would never go well and also her huntresses hated my guts. If they know what happened, they would kill me before I could say I do. So my decision was corrected.

"No?" Zeus frowned "What do you mean No. you dare to turn down my offer?" He continued with rage in his voice.

All the gods looked at me in shock, amaze, and respect. Hestia nodded approvingly at me. I just smiled at her because I knew that I have made a smart decision. Poseidon gave me a thumb up and Athena and Artemis looked at me respectively. The others looked at me with their mouth dropped down to their feet. I found it really funny, though. They didn't think that a male would turn down an offer to marry a beautiful and a maiden goddess like Artemis. But I did it anyway.

"That is not what I mean my lord. It just that our deal is different and I didn't expect that you would let me marry her too." I explained

"B-but what about her safety. There must be someone to protect her" he said

Oh yeah, I'd forgot it. If she has no one to protect, another assault might happen again and I didn't like it. An idea suddenly flew into my head like a bulb. I knew this idea is really bad for me but safe for Arty. And I chose it.

"Actually, there is one way. I can volunteer to protect her. Besides, she already had volunteered to train me for Godhood. So I'm staying in her Hunt would be a good decision for both sides. I can protect her and she also can train me." I revealed.

"No, I don't think this is a good idea. You are not strong enough to protect her" Zeus disagreed.

"But sir. I have already won Ares or I should call your champion. I can CAPABLE to protect Artemis and her Huntresses." I accused.

I was really mad at that point. Ares is not worthy enough for this. He would just start flirting with them instead of protecting them. But Zeus was too dumb to understand that.

"You dare you to offend me, boy?" Zeus boomed and his bolt appeared on his hand

"No, I'm not. I was just telling the truth" I responded and looked straight into his eyes.

We had a staring competition and no one gave a budge. Everything was so quiet that I could hear the crackle of the fire clearly. The sky started rumbling and lightning hit everywhere outside the room. Zeus's face was as red as a tomato and electricity were dancing violently in his eyes. I could say that my eyes were on fire too and I kept my stance. I knew that the only person would dare to do that is me and only me.

The tense meeting was about to exploded when Apollo jumped in and turned it down

"Ok ok, relax everyone. we don't need to make a fight here. Peace always is the first option." Apollo said and stood up from his throne. "In my opinion, I think Perseus can capable of protecting Artemis and I know that the other gods have the same opinion with me too. is that correct?"

I glanced around and saw everyone nodded their head in agreement. Wow, this is the first I've seen the Gods were actually agreeing with something. Normally they're just making sides or have difference perspective. I was actually relieved with that. Zeus opened his mouth to say something but Apollo quickly cut him off

"Come on guys, let's leave this issue aside. We haven't gotten any party since Perseus become a god right" Apollo exclaimed

"Yeah every new God must have a party to celebrate. I think we should start it tomorrow" Hermes added in

Everyone cheered and I suddenly found that tension has disappeared completely. Look like those immature gods are really have skill. I just smiled and joined the group to plan for the party tomorrow.
