THIRD PERSON POV
Rámon was losing his mind as he searched for Caterina. He didn’t know where she disappeared off too and it absolutely scared him.
She left him.
She really left him and he didn’t know what to do about it.
He’s held onto the ring he gave her like a lifeline, hoping and praying that she’ll forgive him.
He really needs her to forgive him.
After Caterina left, he sent Veronica back home. He found out that she drugged his men, so she could slip out and confront Caterina.
When he found that out, he really wanted to kill her. The only reason he didn’t was because of his son that was growing inside of her.
So he’d settle for the latter.
Veronica is to be watched 24/7 and not leave her apartment. He had her on lock-down, as if she was a prisoner in jail.
He wasn’t taking any more chances when it came to that scheming b***h.
His phone rang again, but he ignored it, wanting to avoid the storm he created.
He was sure that Caterina told her family about what happened between them. He was sure that they all hated him for breaking her heart.
Hell, he hated himself too.
His phone rang again, making him groan out before he reached for it. He looked at the screen, seeing that Mrs. Gambino was calling him.
He took a deep breath before answering the phone.
“Rámon?” Valentina answered, “Honey, what’s going on?”
He pulled on his hair as he tried to find the words to speak.
“Caterina won’t talk to me, but I know something’s wrong.” Valentina spoke out, trying to get more information on why her daughter just up and left the country, “I thought you guys were getting married, what happened?”
“I messed up.” Rámon breathed out, “I really f****d up and I think I lost her for good.”
Tears pooled in his eyes as he continued to pull on his hair, trying to find some kind of relief from the pain he was feeling.
It was like his soul was spilt into two.
He didn’t know how to cope from losing her.
“What did you do Rámon?” Valentina asked softly, “Tell me what happened.”
“I-I” He stuttered, “I lied to her and didn’t choose her.”
His tears fell as he thought back to last night and what happened. He remembered the pain in her hazel eyes and how broken she was.
He caused that.
He broke her.
He couldn’t live with himself, knowing he did that to her.
She never deserved it.
Valentina sighed out, not knowing what to say.
“Veronica’s six months pregnant.” He confessed, finding some relief after getting it off his chest. “I kept it from Caterina and lied to her. She found out from Veronica last night when she showed up at my place when I wasn’t there.”
Valentina was speechless but she understood everything now. She understood why her daughter wanted to run—she was in her position at one point in time.
She wanted to comfort Rámon, but she was so disappointed in him. She loved Rámon like her own son and believed in him more than anybody else, but she couldn’t accept the pain he caused her daughter.
She never wanted this for them.
“Are you sure the baby is even yours?” She asked, wanting to cover all bases. “Veronica isn’t an honest kind of woman.”
“I got a DNA test done at the hospital. It said the baby was mine.”
Valentina didn’t know what to think by his revelation. Even if he got a DNA test done, there are still ways to forge results.
“What about with our doctors?” She questioned, “Did you get any tests done with our Doctors?”
“No.” Rámon muttered out, “There was no reason too since I already got one done.”
“Oh honey.” She sighed out, “You can’t trust anybody. You need to get more tests done to be sure the child is really yours.”
“But-t..” He stuttered
“No Rámon.” Valentina cut him off, “You cannot trust that woman. She is trying to trap you, can’t you see that? She is trying to ruin your life and you are letting her.”
Rámon cried out as her words broke him. His screams of pain and anguish brought tears to Valentina’s eyes.
Rámon didn’t know how to feel, considering he may have just lost Caterina from a child that may not even be his.
“Rámon.” Valentina called out, “I’m gonna give our physicians a call and let them know what’s going on, okay?”
Rámon continued to cry, not being able to speak.
“You need to get these tests done as soon as possible.” Valentina advised, “Whatever the results, I will always be here for you.”
He could always count on Valentina, no matter what. He was indebted to her and would always try to make her proud of him.
He loved her.
He really loved her like a mother.
“I know you’re hurting right now, but you need to take care of yourself.” Valentina continued speaking, “I know you tried to do what you thought was right, but you were wrong honey. You should have told her. You should have told us, we could have helped you.”
“I know.” He whispered, as he wiped his tears and finally found his voice, “I should have told her when I found out and not keep it a secret.”
Valentina sighed out, not knowing how to feel about this situation.
It was a real s**t show.
“Caterina isn’t doing to well.” Valentina admitted, “She’s decided to leave and travel for a while. She’s on her way to Italy as we speak.”
“NO!” Rámon yelled out as he panicked.
She couldn’t leave him.
“Where is she?! I need to see her!” He cried out, “Please, just tell me where she is. I need to talk to her and tell her how sorry I am.”
Valentina didn’t know what to say.
“I need to make things right.” He begged, “Just please let me make things right! Tell me where she is right now so I can stop her!”
“You can’t stop her honey.” Valentina spoke out honestly, “None of us can stop her, she has to leave. It’s the only way that she will get through this.”
“NO!” Rámon wouldn’t accept that, “She can’t just leave us!”
“She already left Rámon.” Valentina confessed, “She’s probably already boarding the Jet now.”
His heart broke even more as he hit himself in the face before throwing his phone at the wall, watching it crumble to pieces.
He wasn’t gonna let her go.
He was gonna stop her.
He grabbed his keys and raced out of his penthouse. His men looked at him like he was crazy before following after him.
Rámon had only one priority—making it to Caterina.
No matter what.
…
Vinny drove Caterina towards the private hangar where their jet was waiting to take her to Italy.
Caterina sat in the middle while Sage and Rowan cuddled into her. Vinny was adamant on picking Rowan up, considering Caterina would be gone for a while. The three of them were thick as thieves after all. It would be good for them to spend as much time together as possible.
Vinny looked in the rear view mirror, seeing the solemn look on Sage’s gorgeous face.
He hated when she was sad.
Hell, he hated when she was anything but happy.
“Caterina.” Rowan whispered, “Why are you leaving?”
Rowan couldn’t understand why she was leaving. They were just together yesterday and she saw how happy Caterina was knowing she was marrying Rámon.
She wanted to know what happened to cause her to want to leave.
Sage squeezed Caterina’s hand as she looked at her. “What happened Caterina?”
“We’re here for you Caterina, you can talk to us.” Rowan assured.
“Yeah Caterina. We’re your best friends, there isn’t anything you couldn’t tell us.” Sage agreed, making Caterina tear up.
She just wanted to sit in silence, but the girls were making it hard for her to keep everything bottled-up inside.
Caterina’s tears fell as Rowan and Sage clung to her like glue. Vinny listened, eagerly waiting to know what was going on with his baby sister.
He wanted to know what happened just as much as the girls did.
“Veronica’s pregnant.” Caterina whispered, “He got her pregnant.”
The girls gasped as Vinny’s eyes widened in shock.
“She’s pretty far along and Rámon’s known for months.” Caterina explained as she silently cried, “It’s why he’s been distant and keeping secrets. I found out because she came to his place last night while he wasn’t there. The b***h had the nerve to try and run me off.”
Vinny tightly gripped the steering wheel, wanting to kill Rámon.
How could he keep a secret like this?
How could he keep it from his sister?
How could he keep it from him?
Rowan was sad for her friend but Sage was furious.
Sage hated Veronica but she never thought Rámon would be so stupid as to get that w***e pregnant.
She thought Rámon was smarter than that.
“That’s not even the worse part.” Caterina coldly chuckled as tears streamed down her beautiful face, “I asked him to choose between us and he chose her. He chose his child.”
Her voice cracked as those words left her lips.
Rowan hugged her and buried her face into her neck. “I’m sorry Caterina.”
Caterina cried harder, feeling the weight of the despair suffocating her.
Sage joined the hug, wanting to comfort her friend too. She was angry but knew she really needed to comfort her friend.
“I can’t stay here while they build a family together, I just can’t.” Caterina cried, “I thought we would build a family together, but she’s having his heir.”
Vinny’s heart broke for his little sister, knowing how much she loved Rámon. He’s known for years that they loved each other.
He thought their love could never be broken, but he was wrong.
He pulled through the metal gates of the private hangar and took the road that led to their private jet. He parked the car near the jet and turned the car off.
“We’re here.” He advised as the girls embraced each other in the back.
He got out of the car and directed his men to load the jet up with Caterina’s things.
The sun was setting and night was soon approaching. The air was crisp and cold, bringing a slight chill to his bones. A kind of chill that mirrored his cold heart that wanted Rámon’s blood for breaking his sister’s heart.
He’s never seen Cat this distraught before.
She was the strongest person he knew, but even he knew that was only a front. Today was a reminder that she had feelings and she couldn’t be strong all the time.
The girls got out of the car and walked towards the jet. Sage hung back and turned to Vinny.
“I need you to do me a favor.”
“Of course, what is it?” Vinny eagerly asked, always wanting to please her.
“I need you to locate Veronica for me.” She said back with a murderous glint in her eyes, “I have a few words I’d like to share with her.”
Vinny hesitated before nodding his head.
“I find out where she is.”
“Thank you, Vin.” She gave him a small smile before walking back over towards the girls.
He had no idea what ‘few words’ Sage had for Veronica, but he knew it wasn’t good.
He watched them say a few words together before they shared hugs and kisses. They even giggled together, letting him know they were gonna be all right.
He walked over to his sister and pulled her into his arms.
“I love you Cat.”
“I love you too Vinny.” Caterina hugged Vinny tighter, always loving her older brother’s hugs.
“Take care of yourself, alright?”
She nodded her head and smirked, knowing he was really protective over her.
“I’ll stay out of trouble, you don’t have to worry.”
He chuckled, “I’ll always worry about you.”
The girls laughed, knowing that was true.
Vinny leaned in and kissed Caterina’s forehead before stroking her long-messy curls.
“You are the strongest person I know.” He praised, “This will not break you, okay? You will get through this and be stronger from it.”
Cat smiled as his words brought tears to her eyes. She wrapped her arms around him and hugged him tighter, really needing to hear those words.
She pulled back once she was ready to face the world again.
“I love you all.” She smiled, “I will call you all the time. It’ll be like I’m not even gone.”
They chuckled as she waved them off.
Before Caterina could walk up the stairs to the jet, a speeding car drifted nearby, catching everyone’s attention.
The red Ferrari screeched past, almost crashing into the jet before Rámon stumbled out.
“CATERINA!” He yelled out as he ran towards her.
Before he could get anywhere close to her, Vinny charged him and punched him in the face, knocking him to the ground.
Everyone watching was stunned.
Vinny didn’t give Rámon a chance to recover before he kept throwing punches at Rámon while he was still down.
Rámon didn’t fight back, knowing he deserved the beating.
It was righteous in a way.
“I f*****g told you not to hurt her!” Vinny yelled out, “What the f**k is wrong with you?!”
He kicked him in the ribs, making Rámon groan out.
Caterina hated to see what was happening, but it fed the rage she was feeling. She wanted Rámon to hurt just as much as she was.
“Vinny!” Sage yelled out, worried that he was gonna kill Rámon.
Vinny stepped back, leaving Rámon on the floor. He had blood pouring from his noise and lips, as he rolled around disoriented from an impending concussion.
Vinny didn’t go easy on him.
“Caterina!” Rámon yelled out as he rolled around before getting on his knees.
He raised his head, letting the blood drip down his chest and onto his disheveled shirt. He looked a mess, but Caterina was sure he felt worse.
“Caterina please!” He begged, “I’m sorry! I’m really sorry! Please don’t leave me!”
Tears fell down his sinfully-handsome face as he begged the love of his life not to leave. He was on his knees, accepting defeat as he begged for forgiveness and another chance.
He didn’t want to lose her.
He couldn’t lose her.
“We can make this work!” He yelled out, “Please just give me another chance! I promise I won’t ever lie to you again!”
Sage and Rowan were shocked but they had tears in their eyes as they watch Rámon beg. They’ve never seen him cry or beg someone for that matter.
It was depressing to say the least.
Vinny was conflicted seeing his best friend cry his heart out for his little sister. He knew Rámon loved Caterina, but seeing him like this let him know that he really loved her deeply.
Why did he have to f**k up?
“Caterina!” He begged, “Please don’t leave me! I can’t live without you!”
Tears fell down Caterina’s precious face as she watched Rámon beg on his knees. It hurt her even more seeing him like this, but she knew she had to stay strong and let him go.
She couldn’t forgive him.
Not right now at least.
“Good bye, Rámon.” She told him, making him scream out in anger.
“NO!”
“You said you would never leave me!” He yelled out, “You promised you would never leave me!”
Caterina scoffed, knowing he was such a f*****g hypocrite.
“I guess we both broke our promises.” She told him, not leaving any room for pleasantries.
To make the final blow, she narrowed her eyes and said something that would absolute break him.
“You know, my father was right.” She had a cold smile on her face as she addressed him, “I do deserve better than you and I’m gonna go and find it.”
With those words, she turned and walked up the steps. A couple of Vinny’s men followed her, accompanying her on her trip.
Rámon absolutely lost it as he tried to charge towards the plane, but his men and Vinny’s men stopped him. He fought against their hold, but in the end, he lost.
Just like he lost Caterina.
He screamed out in anger as he pulled on his hair before punching and kicking his Ferrari.
“CATERINA!” He screamed out, “YOU PROMISED!”
“Your promised not to leave me.” He cried out as he dropped to the floor and punched the earth, taking his anger out on something that didn’t cause these problems.
He felt like a child again.
He felt abandoned, as if he had no one.
Vinny gathered the girls and helped them into the car before getting inside himself.
The jet was fired up and soon after, it was slowly taking off. Rámon watched as it ascended into the air, taking his future with it.
He was devastated—but it was all his doing.
He caused all of this.
Like pieces in a puzzle.
