Chapter 12

Victoria and Helena had a great time together. They laughed and talked and shared their personal problems with each other. It’s like a magnet. They have this instant connection. Helena wonders what will happen next. She is slowly falling for that woman. A married and straight lady. But her love is stronger. She cannot back out now. She has this thought of loving her silently and making her happy in her small ways. She knows how lonely Victoria’s life is so she wants to be there for her if she needs one.

On the other hand, Victoria too felt relieved after spending time with Helena. She forgot her thoughts and worries. But when they part ways, it comes back again. She has to go back to work after the delightful lunch. She has to bury herself again at work. She solves minor problems that her team gives her and also signs some papers.

It’s 5pm when her door swung open. It’s Cedrick.

“Can I pick my wife from work?” He said while entering her office.

She was shocked. It’s the first time he picks her up from work.

“You know you did something wrong that is why you are here.” She told him with a straight face.

“I know. I know. That is why I am here.” He went near her swivel chair. “Let me make it up to you, Honey.” He added and gave her a kiss on her head.

“Don’t try to hard Mr. Porter! I am still mad at you.” She frowns.

“What can I do to make you not mad at me? Tell me?”

She stood up and walked away. “Nothing.” She answered shortly. She faced out of the window.

Cedrick went near her again and hugged her from behind. He locked his two arms around her waist and rested his chin on her shoulder.

“Please don’t get mad at me. You know I can't take it.” He whispered sweetly to her ears.

“I just don’t want you to be like a dog for my father. I just want to protect you and our marriage.”

“I know. I didn’t think about that. And I don't know what happened between the two of you. Maybe you can enlighten me so I can understand you better.

Victoria turned around and faced Cedrick. He lose his arms a bit and tightened again after she faced him.

“Just don’t make him decide for us, okay? I don’t like it. I have enough of it already so please restrain him from doing so. You have the right to say No to him. I am already your wife.” She told him seriously.

“Okay, I promise. Are we okay now?”

She smiled and nodded. To Cedrick’s delight, he hugged her tightly and kissed her on the lips many times.

“Okay. Okay. Enough.” She tried to stop him. But he keeps on kissing her and hugging her.

A call from the intercom stopped Cedrick. Like lightning, they separate. Victoria pressed the button to hear it.

“Ma’am, your father is coming.” Her secretary said. And not long enough, her father emerges from the door. They don’t have time to get ready. Cedrick is still standing next to Victoria.

“Dad!” Victoria greeted him.

“I didn’t know that you were here, Cedrick.” He started with Him.

“I wanted to pick her up, Dad.”

“That’s sweet of you.”

“Why are you here?” Victoria asks immediately.

“I only went to check if you are still here and ask you to have dinner at home.”

Victoria is questioning him in his mind. Why? Only occasions that he needs to tell her something important or he needs something that she is asked for dinner with them. She looks at Cedrick for an answer. Cedrick just smiles because Victoria’s father looks at him too.

“Dad, we have plans tonight. Can we do it next time?”

This is the first time she rejected him.

“What plan?” His face became dark.

“We will be going out, Dad.” She replied.

“You can also come, Cedrick if you want. You are always welcome, you know that.”

“Yes, Dad. Thank you but it is already planned and we will go with our friends.” Cedrick lied too.

The old man sighed. He can’t do anything anymore but to leave the two of them. When the old man left, Victoria and Cedrick laughed to each other. It feels good for Victoria. That’s the feeling when she says no to her father. It’s new for her but it feels good too.

“So what’s the plan now?” Cedrick asks her but he cannot stop smiling.

“What is your plan?” She ask him back and laugh again.

“I have no plan. But because we are happy, we go for a drink.”

It feels exceptionally good for Victoria. She never felt that before. The only thing she knows is fear and disappointments when it comes to her father.

They went to a nearby restobar. They have few drinks. Victoria with a margarita and Cedrick with some tequila. Cedrick is a good drinker and also very responsible. A man with a big name like him, he is still conscious of how he looks outside.

While they were drinking, two women came to them.

“Sis!” It’s Valerie from behind.

They are drinking from the other side of the restobar. Valerie seems like she saw her sister but she’s not sure so she and Helena went to them. And she is not wrong. It’s Victoria and Cedrick.

“Val!” Shocked Victoria. “I didn’t know you were here.” She continued

“We had some drinks and I quite saw you from afar but I was not sure so I came to check. How are you? Helle Cedrick!” She turned to her brother-in-law.

“Hello Valerie! How are you? Why don’t you come join us?” Cedrick offered her.

“Is it okay? I am with my friend, Helena. Victoria knows her, come Helena,” She pulled Helena beside her. “Gurl, this is Victoria’s husband, Cedrick.” She introduced him to her.

“Nice meeting you Helena” Cedrick stretched his hand.

“Nice to finally meet you. I heard a lot of good things about you.” She shakes Cedrick’s hand.

Victoria is smiling beside him. This coincidence is wonderful because they finally meet each other. In Helena's eyes, he is a good looking man, very nice and a gentleman.

“You really don’t care if we join you?” Valerie asks Cedrick.

“Oh, not at all, Val. Come!” He offered seats for the two of them.

“What do you want to drink?” He asks the two.

Valerie looks at what he is drinking.

“Seems like you are having fun.” She didn’t answer but made a comment.

“Oh yes!” Victoria answered.

Cedrick calls the bartender. “Can you give us one bottle of tequila, please.”

“Right away sir.” The bartender answered and he got the tequila out.

“Are you serious?” Victoria asks him in awe.

“It’s the first time that I will have a drink with your sister and your friend.” He answered.

It is not a secret for Victoria and Cedrick that Valerie loves having fun. She’s that kind of a woman.

“Okay, here’s the deal. If I get drunk you will bring me home.” She told Helena.

“What? When did you get drunk anyway?” Helena jokingly answered her.

“Maybe tonight.”

“Guys, be responsible.” Victoria told them.

“Sis! Here you are again. Don’t be a KJ. We all drink.”

Victoria just smiled. She touched Cedrick's thigh and told him not too much.

The three nearly finish a bottle of tequila. Valerie is being loud now while Helena tries her best to be normal. She doesn’t want Victoria to see her in a messy situation. Cedrick is also becoming touchy to Victoria. Sometimes she kisses her or holds her hand. Victoria seems happy too. She is with her favorite people.

Helena is observing Victoria’s move. She saw her looking at her many times. Everytime she catches her, she gives her a smile. But she doesn’t like ssing how touchy Cedrick is even though he has all the right.

After finishing the bottle of tequila, Cedrick wants more but Victoria stops him. Valerie is also drunk so they decide to go home.

“Please take care of her.” Victoria told Helena.

“Don’t worry. I will.” She answered.

“Val, are you okay?” She asks her sister who feels dizzy.

“Yes, sis! I can manage to go home, don't worry.”

Cedrick is already inside his car beside the driver’s seat. He cannot drive anymore. His eyes are already closed because of drunkenness. He doesn’t drink that much. Valerie too went inside her car.

“Thanks Helena. See you next time.”

Victoria gave Helena a kiss on her cheek and went in the car.

Helena always freezes everytime Victoria kisses her or hugs her. For the latter is just a friendly gesture but for Helena, it’s not.
