After my husband passed away, I moved in with his father.

Then one day, I found my missing underwear in his room.

Chapter 1
My name is Joanna Morris. I work in human resources, and ever since my husband died in a car accident, I've been living on my own. It was another late night at the office. I dragged myself to the subway station, stepped inside, and leaned against the handrail, too tired to stand up straight. My mind kept drifting, pulled under by exhaustion. The next stop brought a flood of passengers. Then I felt it — someone rubbing against me from behind. I snapped awake instantly, frowning, and shifted forward as much as I could. But the evening car was packed, and there was nowhere to go. The hand came back, worse this time, sliding up beneath my shirt. The man pressed close to my ear. "What's the matter — no man at home to take care of you? Had to come looking on the subway?" I glanced back. He was short, barely taller than my five-seven, and when he saw me looking, a filthy grin spread across his face. I hadn't worn a bra that day — just adhesive cups under my top. He took full advantage, slipping his hand inside and pawing at me shamelessly. "Want some company, sweetheart?" He stayed glued to my back, whispering disgusting things in my ear. My heart hammered in my chest. I turned to him, voice as firm as I could make it. "Let go of me right now, or you'll regret it." I stomped down hard on his foot. In retaliation, he gave me a sharp, painful squeeze. "Oh yeah? And what are you going to do about it?" He wrapped both arms around my waist. I grabbed the seat back with one hand and clutched the overhead strap with the other. I'm not someone who makes a scene — the thought of anyone watching made me want to disappear — so I bit my lip and said nothing. He must have taken my silence as an invitation, because his hand moved lower, two fingers working slowly against me. "Dressed like that, I knew you were asking for it." "Please," I whispered. "Stop. Please." He let out a soft, contemptuous laugh. "Not a chance." My legs nearly gave out beneath me. I gripped the strap harder just to stay upright. Then, mercifully, the train pulled into the station. I seized the moment, drove my foot into him with everything I had, and bolted out the doors.
