Ember’s POV
My heart dropped into my belly. I was in a mess.
Who could believe the man I slapped the past day would be sitting before me as the CEO? This was supposed to be a dream.
“Come take a seat, lady.”
I rolled my eyes to the side, only to catch a glimpse of him getting up from his chair. I wasn't sure whether he was coming to me or not, so I immediately turned around, my limbs trembling.
I bowed to him, ashamed to meet his gaze, “Please, Sir, I'm not suitable to work here. You could get some other person.”
He scoffed before getting his ass on the table, crossing his arms against his chest. “Who said so? If you weren't suitable for the job, I wouldn't call you for an interview.”
I raised my face a bit, and our eyes locked, sending chills down my spine.
“We need a seamstress, lady, and I know you can do a nice job.”
I shook my head, my words coming in ragged breaths. “The truth is that I'm not a professional. It would be advisable to get a professional. I didn't even know that I would be called for an interview.”
“Exactly why I called you. We don’t need a professional. We need someone who could grow with us.” he gestured and chuckled. “So, could you take a seat? It's nice that you're the brave lady by yesterday, which gives me more reason to employ you. But,” he stood, walking back to his seat. “If you act stubborn, I can call the security to take care of you, or maybe have you work for us for free.”
“No!” I looked up to him and bit my lower lip. Taking a deep breath, I slowly made my way towards the seat.
He smiled sheepishly, watching as my bravery all vanished without a trace.
I sat down, unable to even raise my head, but I read the tag placed on his table.
ALPHA PRINCE OLIVANDER HUGO!
A knot formed in my belly. I snapped my face up to look at him, and our gazes locked. The young man who had been smiling at me now had a cold, scary face like he wore a mask.
I was done for. He wasn't just a CEO, but the Alpha Prince of this pack?
On several occasions, I've heard rumors about how brutal the alpha prince was. He was merciless and didn't even listen to any of the pack officials. He did things his own way since he lost his parents and doesn't even worship the moon goddess.
But no one had ever said why he was still a prince and not the ruling alpha of the pack, and I didn't even care.
“Lady, your application says you are Ember Cyril, right?”
I gave a quick nod, trying to hold my lips tight.
“Good! You are a seamstress, but you slapped the alpha prince yesterday and ran off. I had my men search for you but they didn't find you, so where do you stay? Are you from this pack?” he asked, curiosity boldly written on his face.
I licked my lips, my palms squeezing on my dress, “Uhm, I live in the remote town after the pack border. I am an outcast.” I vomited it out, hoping that with it, he would excuse me.
He nodded, his lips pouted. “Outcast? That will make it work out perfectly?”
My eyes bulged, “What do you mean?” I hated that everything I said was in his favor.
He picked up his pen, “Well, I will just be straight.” He leaned his arms on the table. “I am Prince Vander, the man who would never forgive what you did to him yesterday. Such humiliation is too much to look over.” he chuckled and pulled a straight face again. “I won't forgive you—never, unless you're going to do something for me, which has nothing to do with your employment.”
My belly rumbled. I tried to speak, but the words couldn't get out.
“If you be my Luna and submissive for seven days, I will forgive what you did yesterday.”
I bit my tongue. Did I f*****g hear him well? Be his Luna and submissive when I'm out here searching for a job?
I shook my head at his words. There was no way I'd do it.
“If you refuse, then I'll have you become the pack's slave. That's the penalty for slapping the alpha prince.”
A scorching heat enveloped me.
His expression was so emotionless.
“Please, you can't do this to me. I didn't know your rank, and I was so embarrassed that you were speaking to me that way." I sniffed and wiped my forehead. “I can pay for that crime some other way please. My mum is hospitalized and that's why I'm here to get a job so I could pay for her treatments.”
I didn't know when, but I broke into heavy tears shamelessly before him. If I was still dating Uston, he would have gotten my mother out of that clinic by now and have her treated so well.
Now that we broke up, I'm stranded.
“If you agree to the role, I will take care of your mother until she's very well. I will also have you train as a designer and become a model. Not just that, I could open your designer company for you, but all these won't affect the ransom you will get at the end of the contract.” he dropped the pen he was holding. “You will leave the pack with your mother and will be registered in a far away pack where you will live your life freely when everything comes to an end.”
Hearing all that, I was tempted to accept. But, submissive? Could I do it?
With my cell phone, I've watched how dominants handle their submissive and I swore never to accept it. Now here, it's before me, as the only privilege to save my mother mostly.
“This role is just for seven days. After the contract ends, you will stay behind until your mother is healed and you are done with your training. Then I'll further the rest.”
He swung his chair to the side and stood up. “You aren't being mandated to do this. It's the only option to escape my wrath, angel.”
The sound of his shoes hitting the floor made me flinch. I raised my head to meet his face.
Apart from this, what other options do I have? Nothing.
This is the only company that has called me, and I'm too ashamed to ask Uston for help at this point.
‘It's just seven days, Ember. Let's do this and get a better life.’ my wolf snapped at me.
I blinked.
Seven days! Just seven days!
I will get a lot of rewards which will help me in life.
A deep sigh escaped my throat, and I lifted my head, “I'll do it, but you must stand by your words.”
