Blurb

Ritah and Bob have been deeply in love for five years since their university days. Their relationship appears strong, and Ritah believes they are building a future together. However, everything changes when Ritah discovers that Bob has secretly married Vanessa behind her back. What makes the betrayal worse is that Bob and Vanessa have already gone through an introduction ceremony, meaning the relationship is far more serious than Ritah ever imagined. Ritah is devastated and struggles to understand how the man she trusted for five years could betray her so completely.

At first, Ritah believes Vanessa is the woman who deliberately destroyed her relationship. She confronts Bob and Vanessa, but neither gives her the complete truth. As Ritah begins investigating the circumstances surrounding the secret marriage, she discovers that Bob has been hiding more than just another relationship. There are unexplained financial dealings, family secrets, and connections to powerful people that Bob has never told her about. What begins as a story of heartbreak gradually develops into a much deeper mystery.

Ritah's attention is eventually drawn to Grace, whose mysterious death appears to be connected to the secrets surrounding Bob and Vanessa. Grace's death does not make sense, and the more Ritah learns about the circumstances surrounding it, the more she suspects that it was not an ordinary death. Hidden documents, financial records, old relationships, and conflicting stories begin revealing connections between Grace, Bob, Vanessa, Daniel, Richard, Edward, Michael, and Joseph.

Ritah discovers that Grace had known about a large amount of money that was being secretly controlled through a family trust and a network of business dealings. The money was connected to people who had powerful reasons to keep its existence hidden. Grace had discovered information that could expose the people benefiting from the money, making her a threat. Her death was therefore not an isolated tragedy but part of a much larger scheme.

As Ritah continues searching for the truth, she realizes that Bob's secret marriage may also have been influenced by the same hidden interests. Bob is not simply a cheating lover. He has been caught between his feelings for Ritah, his obligations to Vanessa, his family, and people who have been manipulating him. Vanessa, whom Ritah initially sees as her enemy, is also hiding painful secrets. Eventually, Ritah discovers that Vanessa has been used by the same people who have been controlling Bob.

The investigation brings Ritah closer to Daniel, who knows important information about Grace and the old business dealings. Daniel initially refuses to reveal everything because he fears the consequences. Through him, Ritah begins discovering the history connecting Grace to Richard and Edward. Richard is a powerful businessman whose respectable public image hides questionable financial dealings. Edward is closely connected to Richard and possesses knowledge about the origin and movement of the money.

Michael and Joseph also become important pieces of the mystery. Their involvement initially makes it difficult for Ritah to know whom she can trust. Some people lie to protect themselves, while others lie because they are being threatened. Ritah realizes that almost everyone around the mystery has something to hide.

As the story progresses, Ritah's personal heartbreak becomes intertwined with the investigation. She must decide whether she is searching for the truth because she wants justice for Grace or because she wants answers about Bob's betrayal. Her relationship with Bob becomes increasingly complicated. Although she still has feelings for him, she begins to understand that love cannot survive where there is no trust.

Meanwhile, the people behind the financial conspiracy realize that Ritah is getting too close to the truth. She begins receiving warnings and threats. People attempt to discourage her from investigating Grace's death and the hidden money. Evidence disappears, stories change, and people who once promised to help her suddenly become silent.

Ritah refuses to stop.

The deeper she investigates, the more shocking the truth becomes. The money is connected to an old business arrangement and a hidden trust that several people have been trying to control. Grace had discovered the truth before her death and had attempted to protect evidence that could expose everyone involved. Her knowledge made her dangerous.

Ritah eventually discovers that Grace's death was deliberately covered up. The people responsible had relied on money, influence, fear, and deception to prevent the truth from reaching the public. The apparent conflicts between the different characters were part of a larger web designed to keep everyone distracted while the real financial interests remained protected.

Bob is eventually forced to confront the truth about the people he trusted. He realizes that his decisions have caused immense pain to Ritah

The Invitation
Ritah woke to the vibration of her phone. She opened one eye. The room was still quiet, the curtains drawn halfway against the morning light. A thin beam of sunlight slipped through the gap and stretched across the floor. Her phone vibrated again. She reached for it lazily. It was message from her best friend, Tracy. Ritah frowned. Tracy was not usually a morning person, and she certainly wasn't the type to send messages before breakfast unless something was wrong. She unlocked her phone. TRACY: Call me when you see this. It's important. Ritah stared at the message. Her first thought was that something had happened to Tracy. She immediately typed: RITAH: What's wrong? Three dots appeared. Then disappeared. They appeared again. Then nothing. Ritah sighed. She was about to put the phone down when another message came through. TRACY: Just watch the video first. There was an attachment. Ritah hesitated. She pressed play. At first, she didn't understand what she was looking at. A decorated hall, White flowers, gold ribbons and people dressed in expensive clothes. Someone was filming the front of the room. Then the camera moved. Ritah's eyes narrowed. A man appeared on the screen. She knew him. Of course she knew him. She had known that face for five years. "Bob?" The name left her mouth as a whisper. She sat upright. She watched the video again. Bob was standing beside a woman. A beautiful woman in a white wedding gown. Ritah stared at the screen. Her mind refused to make sense of what her eyes were seeing. Maybe it was an old video. Maybe Bob was attending someone's wedding. Maybe... She paused the video. Her eyes moved to the date displayed on the file. Yesterday. Her stomach tightened. "No." She played it again. Bob smiled. The woman beside him smiled. Someone in the crowd shouted something she couldn't make out. Then the camera moved closer. There was no mistaking it. Bob was the groom. Ritah stopped breathing. For several seconds, she simply stared at the screen. Then she laughed. It was a small, confused laugh. "This can't be real." She looked around the room as though someone might suddenly walk through the door and explain the joke. Nothing happened. The room remained silent. She looked back at the phone. It was Bob. The man she'd spoken to the previous night. The man who had told her goodnight. The man who had kissed her forehead two days earlier. Her boyfriend. Her future husband. At least, that's what she had thought. Her fingers began trembling. She opened their chat. The last message stared back at her. BOB: Goodnight, babe. Talk tomorrow ❤️.Ritah stared at the heart and her eyes burned. She scrolled upward. Five years of their lives filled the screen, messages from university. Pictures from their first Christmas together, the arguments, apologies, promises, plans. She stopped at an old conversation. BOB: One day, I'm going to marry you. Her throat tightened. She locked the phone. "No." She said it again, more firmly this time. "No. There has to be an explanation." She called Bob. The phone rang.Once. Twice. Three times, no answer. She called again. Still nothing. Her heart began beating faster. She called Tracy. Tracy answered immediately. "Ritah?" "Who is she?" Silence. "Tracy, who is that woman?" "Ritah—" "Who is she?" Tracy exhaled. "Her name is Vanessa." Ritah frowned. "Vanessa who?" "Mugisha." The name landed differently. Ritah knew that family. Everyone did. The Mugishas were wealthy and powerful. The kind of family whose name opened doors before they even knocked. Ritah swallowed. "Why is she standing next to Bob?" Tracy didn't answer. "Tracy." "They're married." Ritah closed her eyes. "No." "I'm sorry." "No." "Ritah—" "You're wrong." "I wish I was." "He wouldn't." Her voice cracked. "He wouldn't do that to me." Tracy remained silent. Ritah suddenly became angry. "How long have you known?" "I didn't know everything." "How long?" "Ritah—" "How long?" Tracy took a breath. "Two years." The room went completely still. Ritah stared at the wall. "Two years?" "Yes." Her lips parted. Nothing came out. Two years. She tried to calculate it. Two years ago. She remembered that period. Bob had been working late. He'd told her business was becoming difficult. She had worried about him. She had brought him food at his office. She had stayed awake waiting for his calls. She had believed he was working. Her stomach turned. "No." "He was seeing her during that time." Rita shook her head. "That's impossible." "They had an introduction ceremony six months ago." Ritah looked up sharply. "What?" "Six months ago." "You knew?" Tracy hesitated. "I knew there were rumors." "But you didn't tell me." "I wasn't sure." "You weren't sure?" Ritah's voice rose. "You knew enough to be suspicious." "I wanted to confirm it first." "And now?" Tracy's voice softened. "Now he's married." Ritah lowered the phone. A tear rolled down her cheek. She wiped it away. Then another came. She wiped that one too. Soon she stopped trying. Her shoulders began shaking. She pressed her palm against her mouth to hold back the sound rising in her throat. Five years. She had given Bob five years. Not just five years of dating. Five years of planning. Five years of believing. She had turned down an opportunity because they had been planning their future together. She had defended him when people questioned his ambition. She had stood beside him when his business struggled. She had believed that every sacrifice was building toward something. A marriage. A home. A family. Their future. She looked at the wedding video again and something caught her eye. The suit. Her breathing stopped. She knew that suit. She had bought it for him a year ago. She remembered the day clearly. Bob had stood in front of the mirror, adjusting the collar while she watched him. "You look good," she'd told him. "You think so?" "I know so." He had smiled. "Then I'm keeping it." She had laughed. "You'd better." Now he was wearing that same suit. At his wedding. To another woman. Something inside Ritah broke. Until that moment, some part of her had still been searching for an explanation. The suit took that away. This wasn't an old video. This wasn't a misunderstanding. This wasn't another man's wedding. It was Bob's. And the man she had dressed with her own hands had stood before another woman and promised her a lifetime. Ritah covered her face. A sob escaped. She hated herself for crying. She hated him more for giving her a reason to. "Why?" The question came out quietly. "Why would you do this to me?" Her phone vibrated. She looked down and it was Bob. For one foolish second, hope rose inside her. Maybe he would explain. Maybe there was something she didn't understand. Maybe.. She opened the message She opened the message. BOB: Can we talk? Ritah stared at it. Her tears stopped. Something colder replaced them. She typed: RITAH: Are you married? The typing indicator appeared and later disappeared it reappeared again. Then it vanished. No answer. Ritah waited. One minute. Two. Five. Still nothing came. She placed the phone on the bed. Then it vibrated again. Not Bob. It was an unknown number. She rushed to open the message. UNKNOWN: You should stop asking questions about Bob. Ritah froze. She read it again. Her heart began beating hard. She looked toward the bedroom door. Suddenly the room didn't feel safe anymore. Someone knew she was asking questions. Someone was watching. And whoever it was didn't want her to find out the truth. Ritah slowly picked up her phone. For the first time that morning, she wasn't crying. She was afraid. She stared at the message. Then at Bob's unanswered chat, then back at the wedding video. There was something she didn't understand. Something much bigger than a secret marriage. And somehow, she had just stepped into it. Who else knew?
