Chapter 6Daniel didn’t consider going back to work until three days later, and then it was only briefly. The effects of the ritual had entirely faded after a single day, and he was feeling fine. Normal. But something else kept him away from the campus. He knew he’d have to face Charles eventually, but he wasn’t up to it now. Because Charles would want to pick up where they left off—of that Daniel had no doubt—and Daniel didn’t think he could tell him no. Even if he should. So it was best to avoid the situation. Until he figured out what he would do. Carrying on in some sort of affair with Charles was not a good idea. Because Charles was with Lucy. Because Daniel wished he was with Lucy. Because Lucy deserved to be treated better than that, and because Daniel didn’t know what it all meant
