Chapter 5Daniel had fully intended to drive himself home. It never occurred to him he would be unable to drive. Or walk. But even hours after they completed the ritual, his legs were rubbery, and his eyes burned, and he had a hell of a time gauging distances, and time. He felt completely wasted, like he had spent the night drinking boilermakers. Except, usually that made him sick. He didn’t feel sick. He felt really great. And stranded. Daniel stared at the car, then at the keys in his hand, not quite remembering how the two items were related. He knew he needed one to use the other, and he needed both to get home, but that was the extent of his ability to judge the situation.
