Chapter One: Awakening
Lily's eyes fluttered open, groggily taking in her surroundings. She was met with the sight of a sterile white room, the smell of antiseptic hanging heavy in the air. A faint humming noise came from the machines beeping softly around her. She tried to sit up, but a wave of dizziness washed over her, forcing her back onto the pillow.
A gentle voice spoke from beside her, "Hey, take it easy. You've been out for a while."
Lily turned her head, taking in the sight of a ruggedly handsome man with piercing blue eyes. His dark hair was messy, and his jawline was covered in stubble. He looked tired, but his eyes shone with a warm, gentle light.
"Who..." Lily's voice trailed off, her throat dry.
The man reached for a glass of water on the bedside table and helped her take a sip. "My name is Alex. I'm the Alpha of the Full Moon pack. You were found outside our territory, unconscious. We brought you here to our pack hospital to take care of you."
Lily's mind was a complete blank. She had no idea who she was, where she came from, or how she ended up here. Panic began to set in as she realized the only thing she knew was her name.
"Lily," she whispered, her voice shaking.
Alex's face lit up with a warm smile. "That's right. You're Lily. We'll figure out the rest together, okay?"
Lily nodded, feeling a sense of relief wash over her. She was grateful for this stranger's kindness, but she couldn't shake the feeling that something was off. Why couldn't she remember anything? And why did Alex seem to be looking at her with such intensity?
As she looked around the room, Lily noticed that it was small and simply furnished, with a single window that let in a sliver of sunlight. There was a chair beside the bed, where Alex sat, and a small table with a vase of flowers.
"Where...where am I?" Lily asked, trying to sit up again.
Alex gently pushed her back onto the pillow. "You're in the Full Moon pack's hospital. You're safe here."
Lily's eyes narrowed, trying to remember anything about her past. But her mind was a complete blank.
"What happened to me?" she asked, feeling a sense of frustration.
Alex's expression turned serious. "We're not entirely sure. You were found outside our territory, unconscious. You didn't have any ID on you, and we couldn't find any information about you in our databases."
Lily's eyes widened, feeling a sense of unease. Who was she? Where did she come from?
As she looked at Alex, she saw a flicker of something in his eyes. It was a look of recognition, of knowledge. But what did he know?
"Alex?" Lily said, her voice barely above a whisper. "What do you know about me?"
Alex's expression turned guarded, and he looked away, his jaw clenched. "I'll tell you everything I can, Lily. But for now, let's just focus on getting you better, okay?"
Lily nodded, feeling a sense of disappointment. She wanted answers, but it seemed like Alex was hiding something from her.
As she drifted off to sleep, Lily couldn't shake the feeling that her past was shrouded in mystery, and that Alex knew more than he was letting on.
