It took a week for everyone to be able to cooperate together. A week in regular time meant seven years for a raging war. Eyes blazing with fury, Nadia slammed her hands down on the table, leaning over to glare at the male in front of her. “ You're wrong. " She hissed, teeth gritted and slightly bared as if she were an animal.
The other two of the group stood back with an amused look on their faces. The other female, Cierra Lee, as Nadia came to find out nudged the male next to her. “ Five on Nick? " She bet, eyes glancing at the male and female still arguing at the table. The male, Taylor, laughed and shook his head lightly. " Nadia's got this one. " He laughed in a way to agree with her bet.
Nick mirrored Nadia’s stance, putting his face a bit closer to hers. “ Wrong. " He spat out. Huffing, Nadia stood, resisting the urge to cross her arms over her chest. “ How am I wrong? Your plan could get hundreds of us killed! It's a lost cause! "
Nick set his jaw, trying to not further lash out at the smaller girl. “ It's a sign of power. " He spoke after a few moments of trying to calm himself. Nadia laughed. She actually laughed. “ That wouldn’t be a sign of power. It's crawling with the government, just waiting for us to try and take it back! It's practically suicide! " She yelled out. She was frustrated. He wanted to take back the capitol.
The other two shared a look. It was time to intervene. “ Nick, " Taylor started out, moving to stand to the left of Nadia, Cierra on the brunette's right. “ Nadia's right. "Cierra finished. Nick stared at the three, letting out a curse. " Fine! We'll go with newbie's way! " He huffed out. Now, it was Nadia's turn to try and restrain her anger. Digging her nails into the palm of her hand, she restricted the urge to lash out and launch herself at him. He knew she hated that. And he used it every chance he got. “ Newbie this. " " Newbie that. " She just wanted to punch him. Show him what exactly a newbie could do.
Nadia wanted to take an outside city. One close, but not monitored or under watch by the Government, as far as they could tell. They had sent scouts out up ahead, to check the place out. They all came back with the same report, “ It's like a normal town. " Normal had a new meaning in North America. Since 2020, they had been living without showing emotion. It took until 2022 to start a rebellion, and even five years later, the war was still going.
It was. . .war. And everyone knew how a war was. Horrible in the long run. Stress on everyone, overworking like a factory. Get in get out. It was all about quantity now, hardly quality. She could still feel Nick's glare on her as she leaned over the table, studying the troops, the supply lists, everything. They were going for Frisco. Frisco was a little over an hour's drive. It would be easy enough to hide where they came from if they pulled it off correctly. Pushing a thumbtack over Frisco, she dragged General Johnson and his group to the East, General Lee would come in from the South, and then a small group from each of those troops would come in from the West. They would be cornered against the mountain.
From Frisco however, you could have different trails up to different towns and you'd still be hidden amongst the mountains. It was practically perfect. The plan was to battle until won and then secure it as a base. Once secure, they'd send as many troops they could while still protecting home base.
It only took a day to get the orders out, and then three for everyone to get in place. Finally, on day four or Tuesday, they attacked. Fighting lasted two days, or so said the messenger that General Johnson sent. Everyone had cheered, even Nick, who originally hated the idea. They had won a battle, they had secured a base. Now, it was time to move troops there.
At lunch with the group, Nadia couldn't help but smirk as she sat across from Nick. She saw Taylor pass Cierra a five dollar bill and she let out a laugh, causing Nick to look up and glared at her in annoyance. The only retaliation she gave was sticking her tongue out at the other. It had been a good day; her plan had worked. Nothing could really ruin her day, or so she had thought.
General Lee showed to their table, flanked by two other officers. " Nadia Kingsman, please come with us. " She spoke. Her face was stone, voice business. Eyebrows furrowed in confusion, she glanced at her friend's faces. All three of them showed the same confusion as she did. " Yes, General Lee. " She stood and followed with the other three.
When she was brought to an interrogation room, she became suspicious. But when she was brought into the watching side of the interrogation room. . . she gasped, having to support herself on the wall before she trusted herself to look again. She knew the person on the side of the room. Looking back at General Lee, she could see the other watching in concern, even with her business face on.
“ Why am I here? " She managed to whisper out.
