“So, this was your plan after all? You came close to me because you wanted to trick me!” His loud voice resonated in my ears as I stared at him in utmost shock.He had rage in his eyes, and I could see those red veins sticking out by the side of his head.“Trick you? You came to me!” I yelled out of my lungs, recalling every bit of how it happened.I had been in my house that evening when he came over. At first, I tried to send him away, but he pushed his way through and got into the house. It was he who made the first move to kiss me!“Is that what you think? And what efforts did you make to stop me?” He asked, and for a minute, I thought that I had just heard incorrectly.I stared at him blankly, wondering if he really spewed out what I heard.“Why didn’t you stop me? Of course, you won’t! Daniel Blackwood was at your house, and so, you couldn’t help parting your legs to give him access”, he said. His voice was laced with pride and arrogance.I felt the blood in my veins boil immediately, and I clenched my fist and swallowed hard.“Tell me! Was that not it? You opened those legs for me because of who I am. What does that make you? A cheap wh*re!” He bellowed angrily, and I lost it.I took a step forward, shoving aside every fear I’ve ever had since I started working at the company. He needed to be put on track, and I was going to do just that.“Who do you think you are? Going around in a drunken state and searching for women to use when you want. Does that make you special?” I spat out, startling Daniel, who froze on the spot.I could tell that he never thought or imagined that I would stand up to him and talk back to him. But then, I had had enough of his pride and sour attitude. It was time to let him know that I was a human and I had a mouth, too!“You are nothing close to special, Daniel Blackwood. I would tell you what you are, though. You are a pitiful, sad, and foolish successful businessman who thinks he has the world in his hands when, in fact, he has nothing! You are pathetic and unbelievable”, I screamed out of my lungs, ensuring I poured out every word just as they appeared in my mind.He stood up in shock, obviously getting hit by all that I said.“How dare you! Are you out of your mind?” He growled, clenching his fistlike he would throw a punch at me the next minute.“No, how dare you treat me like trash? How dare you try to shut me up and make me feel like a fool? Do you think I want your money? Of course not!”I dropped defiantly.My heart was beating at this point, and I was almost at the verge of pouring out tears.Why does he think I was only trying to trick him? I never planned to have Aman’s child and, most importantly, not Daniel’s. But then, mistakes happen, and the only thing I could hope for was that he would accept the fact that I’m carrying his child.“How do I know that the child does not belong to someone else?” He fired back at me, with a look of disdain and irritation plastered across his face.“What?” I gasped in shock, trying to ascertain how such a thing could easily fly out of his mouth without any restraint.I didn’t even have a boyfriend. I was just a single young lady trying to survive and build her dreams.Likewise, I had a big dream to own a business empire just like Daniel, and the last thing I wanted was having a man who would come into my life as a distraction.What happened with Daniel was a mistake and one I was beginning to regret because he would never because of what it came with.“You are so unbelievable! I can’t stand this. I can’t stand you. You are cruel, heartless, and selfish! And you know what? I quit.” I dropped, wearing a fierce look that complemented the tone of my voice.Daniel’s eyes slightly opened in shock. I could tell that he never thought or imagined that I would quit on the spot.“You can go to hell for all I care.” I blurted out and stormed out of the building, wiping tears out of my eyes since I didn’t want anyone around to figure out what had happened.I packed my stuff into a box and in less than thirty minutes, I was on my way out of the Blackwood company. I had no idea what I was doing at the moment. A part of my heart questioned my decision, but I wasn’t willing to go back on my word.Tears welled up in my eyes as each word that flew out of his lips pierced into my heart. It hurt terribly that I broke into tears inside the cab.“Is everything okay, ma’am?” The cab driver asked when he heard silences and sniffles and sobs.I swallowed hard and darted my eyes to the window, not ready to say a word, since I was certain that doing that would explode the outburst I was trying to suppress.He returned his gaze to the road when I didn’t attempt to talk. I just wanted to be alone and think of my new life because I wouldn’t be working at the Blackwood company anymore. I had to figure out how to cater to my unborn child and remain fine since Daniel had refused to take responsibility. Thoughts of this broke everything in me, but I wasn’t willing to go back on my words.I was going to take care of this child, regardless of what it would take…
