Tangled Hearts, Bound by Fate

I walked into the sleek, modern office building on my first day of work, and a mixture of excitement and nerves coursed through my veins. I had just landed a job at Blackwood Inc. One of the biggest tech companies in New York, and to my surprise, I was assigned to be the personal assistant to none other than the enigmatic CEO, Daniel Blackwood. I had been chosen for this position due to my wits and intelligence, but little did I know the challenges that awaited me. Daniel Blackwood was known for his brilliance and success in the tech industry. His name carried weight, and his company was at the forefront of innovation. I admired his achievements and aspired to be like him. However, as the days turned into weeks, I began to see another side of him—a side that made me question my initial admiration. Daniel was a shrewd and cunning man, always seeking an edge over his competitors. He would stop at nothing to achieve his goals, even if it meant stepping on others along the way. I witnessed him manipulate situations, exploit loopholes, and make ruthless decisions without a second thought. It became clear that his ambition knew no bounds, and he expected the same level of dedication from his employees. Working under him became a constant battle between my principles and the demands of the job. I struggled with the ethical dilemmas that arose, torn between my desire to succeed and my aversion to his cutthroat tactics. I was surprised at how I admired and loathed him at the same time. Work ethics aside, his views about women were quite infuriating. He had always seen women as objects, and he never failed to tell anyone his opinion about women. Although we were working together, I felt a great aversion to the time showed 10 pm, and the streets were already turning scanty. I glanced at my wristwatch for the hundredth time, wondering why Daniel had yet to permit me to go home. He had walked into my office earlier on, with a massive frown on his face, just as he tossed a couple of documents across to me.“We have a lot of work to do. Ensure you go through the entire paper workand come up with a perfect presentation for tomorrow’s board meeting”, hehad said, causing me to clench my fist in fury. I had thought that working in such a prestigious company would be a dream come true, but with each minute that passed, it dawned on me that this was going to be a nightmare in broad daylight.“And you must not leave until I permit you to”, he had said in conclusionafter which he walked out of the office. It’s been over five hours and yet, there was no sign of him. Hot air left my lips as I caressed my forehead which was beginning to ache. I finally closed my laptop and jerked to my feet, determined to discover why he left me hanging there in my office. I walked towards his office bitterly, with my eyes almost bleary since I had worked almost all through the day.
