I made the decision to leave the palace that evening, alongside Ophelia. Before our departure, I knew it was essential to inform my stepmother, Serena, of my absence. It was a matter of courtesy to let her know. I made my way to Serena's private chambers, knocked softly on the ornate door, and waited for her to acknowledge my presence.
"Come in," her voice called from within. I entered the room and found Serena sitting at her vanity, her eyes locked on her reflection as she meticulously adjusted her jewelry. She kept her appearance as queen as perfect as possible.
"Has something happened to your father?" she asked, worry marring her face momentarily.
"Nothing has happened to him. I just wanted to tell you I'll be attending to something, but I will be back as soon as possible
