CHAPTER 1: The Escape
Locked in the dungeon beneath the mansion, Clara silently watched as Fred, the love of her life, handcuffed her to the pole. This was how it had been for weeks. They'd take her out, do something strange to her. She didn't know what they did because, for some reason, she's always unconscious, but when she comes back to her senses, she feels strange. She had no idea what was going to befall her next, and it scared her to death. At night, around the full moon when the party was at its peak upstairs, something strange happened. She started to feel the dungeon rumble or was it her imagination? A sudden feeling of intensity surged through her, and she began to feel herself change. It was painful as her bones shifted. She screamed in pain, but her voice was drowned by the sound of the loud music. With a burst of adrenaline, Clara broke through the chains that had held her bound for weeks, letting out a loud howl. Her golden eyes glowed brightly, and her hair darkened, her cheek bones sharpened, giving her an ethereal beauty while her finger nails extended into claws. She passed out after taking a few steps because of the energy she had exerted as that was her first time changing. She woke up to her human self and found the gates open. "Hello? Is anyone there?" she called. When she got no response, she stepped out, struggling through the hallway. She heard voices from the room nearby and froze. The entrance to the room is just by the hallway, making it difficult to walk by without getting noticed, so she hid behind a pillar, tired. The hushed tone they were talking in piqued her curiosity and she eavesdropped on their conversation. "Kill her already, she isn't what we thought" a male voice sounded. Upon hearing this, her hand flew to her mouth, muffling the gasp that threatened to come out. "She checks all the cards, and what if after we kill her we realize she's the one?" Fred said loudly. "I have watched her grow all her life and I know who she is. I am not wrong, she's the key" a very familiar voice said. She knew who that voice belonged to. She just couldn't place it right now. They all walked out of the room, heading to the secret dungeon where she was being held and, to her greatest surprise. She whispered "Dad?" holding her mouth firmly as she also held her breath. It was as if she had been punched in the gut. Her own father was in on this?. What could she have done that was so terrible that her own father would join in on a coup against her. Blinking frantically, she pushed the thought out of her mind. The only thing on her mind was to get the hell out of that place that very minute. There was lots of chattering coming out from the living room, so it was a bit easy for Clara to follow the route behind as the mansion was hers and that of her beloved husband, Fred. As she made her way through the kitchen she tried to hold her tears as pictures of their making meals and having other pleasures on dining table seem too painful to think of. She couldn't help but remember Fred's undying confessions of love as he whispered "I'm so glad to have you all to myself", it kept repeating. This has been their home for 2years now after a 3year courtship. She waved it off and opened the kitchen door with a happy, sad feeling of freedom, but a slap landed on her face, resulting in a great fall. She crawled backwards watching the individual like a shadow walking towards her and, since the lights were off, she could barely see his face. "You have nowhere else to go, Clara," he said as he switched on the light, with the light shinning so bright she used her hand to guide her eyes to get a better look at this brutal individual. "Derrick, so you are in on this?" She shouted. "Do you know how long I have had to put up with your presence at the house growing up" Derrick lashed out. "But you are my brother" she said, sobbing. "Oh so you thought" he continued, bending down and staring at her in the face. "You are nothing but a stray dog my dad's w***e brought home." "That's enough", their father said sharply, On hearing this, Clara crawled to where he was. "Dad, what's going on? What have I done to deserve this"? She said, clinging to his legs with both hands. "I would rather you used your words correctly, Clara. I was never your father. Get her out of my sight" he said. "I trusted you Fred, I trusted you all" she wailed and cried loudly as two men held her in both arms. "Help!!!" she shouted, but the music coming from the room upstairs made her attempt fruitless. "No one can hear you my princess, you are all ours." Fred said, laughing loudly as he kissed her aggressively, and she struggled to break out of the grip of both men that held her. "Take her back to her place and ensure she's well safe" Fred said, "But wait," he continued "How did you escape from the chains, my princess ?" "I told you, she is one of them, didn't I"? Her father responded. And with a flick of the hand, she was taken away. Back in the dungeon, she became so afraid, as everyone she holds dear was in on this. What awaited her was the only thought on her mind, death; of the ones she held dear? She couldn't get the thought out of her mind. She cried almost all through the night, reminiscing on what had just happened. The next morning, everywhere in the house seemed quiet as she could hear steps heading to her cell. She cried out "Please don't hurt me"
