Blurb

“Selfish brat!” Mommy was about to slap me when someone held her wrist. I swallowed hard and looked up to see who could it be only to gasp when I found out it was Calvin!

He looked furious, like a dragon ready to spit fire. His forehead was wrinkled and his lips were on a grim line. His jaw was clenched repeatedly, and his eyes were like that of the sky's wrath. His dark aura told me that his anger is uncontrollable.

“Try to lay your hands on her, and you'll taste the real hell," he said coldly. He spoke as if he was so sure of his words. It sent shivers down my spine.

“Who the hell are you, and who gave you the rights to trespass without our permission?!” Mommy turned to Calvin angrily. While I could just stare at him in pure shock and wonder at the same time.

How the hell did he get here?

Calvin let go of her hands blustery and turned to me. I gasped when he grabbed my waist and pulled me closer to him that I could almost feel the heat of his body because of his burning anger.

Everyone's mouth formed an ‘O’, and Mommy's anger earlier has been replaced with shock.

"I'm Calvin Mendocino," he said powerfully. His head was held up high and he showed no fear even if he is in the territory of an enemy.

He glanced at me. And for a moment, his expression softened. Though his aura remained dark, it felt strange that I'm more than glad that he's here.

“I am and your only daughter's husband,” he declared

fiercely, eyes still fixed on me.

My jaw dropped as my head spun. Everything was starting to blur. And before I knew it, his words were the last thing I heard before my vision blacked out.

“Allyssa!"

It is the truth and the reality. It continues even when we're at the peak of hard ships and would want to give up already. Not to discourage us to stop and admit defeat in our battles, but to challenge us how far will we fight and how far can we last when the world succumb every negativities and put them unto our shoulders. “F— you, asshole! You're not telling me that! I will break your neck, I'm telling you!” I sighed and glanced at the woman who's shouting to whoever she's talking to in the phone. I can't help but grimaced for her choices of words. “You can't do this to me!” she whined. There was a deep crease on her forehead and a wrinkle on her nose. Her lips were also pressed together and her eyes were squinted. And looking at her red face now, I could tell she's furious. I have been here for quite some time now to go out for a walk and get some fresh air while she only arrived a few minutes ago to walk her pet dog. I am not being nosy with whatever's going on with her, but her voice is just so loud that it attracts attention and she doesn't seem to care at all. When her eyes drifted towards me, I immediately looked away. “No!” she screamed and messed her hair in frustration. “We're not yet done! I will f*****g kill you for this!” I can't help but glance at the woman through my eye glasses. I furrowed my brows when I saw her walk towards me. I straightened my back and wait for whatever she would say. She looked really mad that other times, I will fear her. “Hey you,” she pointed at me. I arched my brows. “Yes?” She heaved a sigh before looking around. “Do you know a boutique somewhere near here?” Boutique? She meant for dresses right? Like a couture? “A couture,” she said as if she read my thoughts and crossed her arm. I could tell from the face that she's younger than me. But she speak with no manners and reservation! I cannot believe it. I shook my head. “I'm sorry, I don't.” “Oh?” Her brows popped up. “Why not? You're not from here?” I don't think it's your business. I rolled my eyes. She wouldn't see it, anyway. “No,” I answered curtly. Her brows popped up even more as she narrowed her eyes on me as if she just wouldn't believe what I said. “Liar,” she blurted out that made my brows furrow. “I saw you in the Condominium Tower!” She pointed to the direction of my Condo unit that's a few blocks from here. “I am your neighbor!” I sighed. “Well, yes, I live there.” “See?” “But I am new here. I just arrived from abroad three days ago and—” “But at least, you know a*****e?” I crossed my arms in annoyance. What the hell? Why don't he drive around and find out herself? “I don't.” “Gosh, you're useless,” she lisped and rolled her eyes at me before leaving. My jaw dropped. What?! I watched her disappear from my sight with disbelief. She have the audacity to say that and call me—what?! A useless? Because of irritation, I decided to just go back to the condo instead. I don't think I'd still enjoy here, anyway. No matter how calming the wind and the peaceful view is, I couldn't appreciate it anymore. “Allyssa!” My brows furrowed when I heard my name being called. I looked around to see whoever it was and my lips parted when I saw who it is... Standing across the streets while beaming so wide and waving her hands was my best friend ever since day care, Lavinia Rushiane. I didn't even notice when she crossed the road. My mind was traveling back in time, when everything's alright. “My goodness! b***h, you're really here!” she laughed menacingly at my bewildered expression before bumping me for a hug. “I friggin' missed you!” I gasped. “I thought you're in Germany?” She smirked. “Well, I forgot to tell you that I will be graduating the next month! And I only came here to get some papers!” What the hell? “It's supposed to be a surprise! But you announced that you're going back here, so...” She smirked again and tapped my cheeks before laughing like a witch. “It's been years,” I murmured with broken voice. She pursed her lip and smiled sadly. “Four years to be exact.” “We never saw each other that long.” I laughed at her remark before hugging her again. God, I miss this girl so much! “We regularly communicate, so yes, we regularly see each other too!” “Virtually!” “When did you arrived?” “Just yesterday.” I held my chest. “And you didn't contact me?” “I told you, this is a surprise!” I rolled my eyes. “Alexia will surely rush Erwin once she finds out that you're already here too.” “Well, actually. They're joining us for dinner tomorrow!” “They are?” My eyes widened. She laughed merrily and clasped her hands. “Yup! This will be a f*****g reunion for the three of us who have been so busy in our lives for the passed years?” “And what about Rodge?” “Well, he's living his best life in Milan. Can you believe it? He's part of the glam team of the highest paid supermodel right now!” “Good for him.” “I actually thought of inviting him for my graduation party, but then he's probably bustled.” “At least, you try reaching out! He'll surely make time for you.” She shrugged before smiling. “I guess so...” “Anyway, I am inviting you to come over for dinner. Mom and Dad were expecting you.” “And there's dinner tomorrow too?” She laughed. “That's different. Alexia and Erwin will be there.” “Just the four of us?” I asked casually. We're not concerned about Erwin joining us actually since she has been a good friend in our Senior High School days. “Planning to invite some old friends too. And probably my cousins.” She shrugged. “The venue's just in your house too?” “Uh-huh.” I smiled before nodding. Well, that's fine. I'm actually comfortable here, so knowing it is a relief. “Have you brought car?” she asked while we're heading somewhere, probably the parking area. I shook my head. “My condo's just a few blocks from here. I only walked.” She nodded. “Good. I brought Daddy's car with me.” “We'll stop over in the mall first. I have to buy something.” I shrugged. “What will you buy?” “Chips and Chocolates.” She smirked. I crossed my arm. She never really changed. “I will be on the third floor. Text me once you're on the counter.” She only shrugged before we part ways. She went straight to the grocery while I headed to the escalator to go in the third floor. I realized my condo's very dull. There has no flower vase and other house appliances that I needed, so I need to buy. Anyway, I'll just look for now since I haven't brought car. Right immediately when I get there, a staff greeted me with a smile. “Good afternoon, Ma'am.” I nodded and smiled curtly before proceeding to see the TV's. I looked at the staff who keep following me and realized what she's up to. I sighed. “I'll just look,” I said, so her smile faded a bit, but then she nodded. “It's alright, Ma'am.” “I prefer inspecting the appliance all alone, so...” She immediately nodded as if she understood and bowed her head a little before leaving. A couple of minutes strolling and I decided what to buy. Just a refrigerator, rack oven, and 64 inches flat screen smart TV. It was all in the same store. I smiled at the Guard when he opens the door for me before I left. I checked on my phone to check for Lavi's message, but there was none yet, so I decided to just go on the Starbucks to buy coffee. The weather's calling me to try some Frappuccino. I have already thought for my order even before seeing the menu. Well, Lavi, Alexia, and I were regular costumers of Starbucks during high school days, and I have memorized their favorites already. Even the add-ons. “Welcome to Starbucks. What can I get started for you today?” I nodded and slightly glanced at the menu. “1 Venti Caramel Java Chip, please. That's with hazelnut syrup, whipped cream, and soy. Also, 1 Venti White Mocha with the same add-ons.” The cashier nodded and smiled at me before announcing my order to the barista. “That's 810 pesos, Ma'am.” I took a one thousand peso bill on my purse. Right after I handed it, my phone vibrated, so I had to look at it and saw a text message from Lavi. Lavi: I'm already paying my purchase. :> I typed a reply. Ally: Just waiting for my order too. :> Lavi: Where are you? Ally: Starbucks Lavi: Mine's the same. Thank you. :> I rolled my eyes, because I knew exactly what she meant by that. Ally: That's 390. Lavi: :) I chuckled before getting my change and order. “Thank you. Please come again.” Lavi: Look for a table. I'll just put these on the car, and I will get back there. I was carrying my phone while typing for a reply and looking for a table at the same time, so I had to be really careful. Ally: Suit yourself. I smiled when I finally found the table on the far corner. I was about to walk towards there when someone on the near table stood up and because of the sudden and abrupt move, I wasn't able to avoid him and we bumped into each other! I gasped aloud while he muttered an oath that made me grimaced. “Fuck.” I looked at my orders to see if it was fine, and I was glad it was. I took a deep breath and fixed my bag. “I'm sorry,” I said without looking at him. I thought he'd just let it pass and leave, but he didn't say anything and remained standing in front of me as if his feet were glued on the floor. My brows furrowed. What the hell? Isn't he leaving yet? I was about to speak and ask him that when I heard him speak, which steels laid underneath. “Allyssa...” I frozed when I heard the voice. It was as though I was strucked by lightning. Four years... It was quite long, but that is never enough to forget his voice. My grip on the bag tightened as I slowly looked up to him and a gasp escape from my mouth when I met a pair of pitch black eyes staring deep into my soul. It was like cold silver, cutting at me. My heart pounded heart that my chest ached. In long white sleeves, black pants, and leather shoes that hugged his mouthwatering physique, standing tall and massive in front of me is the only man who have this kind of effect on me. Calvin Davindale Melian. The signature scent is still the same. It was reeling through my senses. And I regretted that I haven't knew earlier. I regretted that I haven't looked around me. I could've spotted him. I could've avoid him. I couldn't take my eyes off him. It was like a magnet to a metal and it felt fatal and dangerous, something I couldn't control. And as my eyes bored longer into him, realization poured through me like water overflowing a dam. It really was him. “Calvin...” My darkest nightmare.
