"So, you mean to tell me that young gentleman is my master?" Lily asked in disbelief, her eyes moved from Drey to Roseline and then back to Drey Her eyes stuck on Drey who had been explaining who Frednard was to her. Everything he had said to her didn't seem to make any sense. She found it half amusing and half appalling that he said she was a slave to the young man that just left. "Yes, he is," he replied. "Just don't worry about it. Don't stress your brain trying to remember now. It would come around," Roseline said, trying to take her mind off what Drey said. "You are awake now and spending time with us. That's all that matters now." She let out a smile. The sadness behind the smile was difficult to hide even though she tried very hard. Lily chuckled in amazement at what she was hearing. It was like the whole undercover thing was turning into something else she didn't understand. She was trying to pretend to be the daughter of this poor-looking woman but telling her to act like a slave was off the bar. Never would she stoop that low! Not even to one whom she was sure she was older than by a few years. She needed to speak with her family so that this madness could stop because she was already fed up. Her lips still hurt from how hard Roseline covered her mouth when she wanted to ask Frednard a question. Lily knew that she was going to flare up any moment from then but she didn't want to jeopardise all the efforts her family had put into her escape. She needed to find a way to reach her family and she had to find it fast. "Phone!" Lily exclaimed as the idea came to her mind. "How come I never thought of that since?" "What is the matter, Lily?" Roseline asked. She and her son were really taken aback at the way Lily exclaimed. "Can I get a phone, please?" Lily bespoke, putting up a forced friendly smile so that they didn't decline her request. "You need your phone?" Drey asked. "Yes!" Lily said, nodding her head in quick succession. Getting her phone back would make everything easier for her. "I have it in my pocket here," Drey said, tapping the right pocket of his trousers. "I thought that you might ask for it anytime you woke up." Lily's lips broke into a real smile as Drey reached into his jeans trousers pocket to bring out her phone. So he had it with him all along and she had been shouting her lungs out for them to help her contact her family? Anyway, the good thing was that her phone would soon be handed over to her. She would get in touch with her family and understand what was going on. "Here you go," Drey said as he brought a phone and stretched it towards Lily. Lily was shocked at what Drey was stretching out to her. It was a two thousand and sixteen model Samsung J3 whose touchpad had some cracks. "What is this?" Lily asked with disgust written all over her face and also evident in her voice. "I wasn't asking for your phone. I am asking for mine." "This isn't my phone. It is yours. Mine is in my pocket," Drey said, tapping his left pocket. "This cannot be my phone," Lily said shaking her head in disagreement. "This is two thousand and twenty-three for God's sake. Who still uses this?! No no no no," she protested, pushing his outstretched hand back to himself. "Angela, this is your phone. You bought it yourself two years ago and you have guarded jealousy ever since you got it," Roseline explained, trying to help Lily out of her confusion. "It's fine if you don't remember now. You will remember soon," she smiled as she added. Lily examined the phone in Drey's hand one more time. She couldn't imagine herself taking it from his hand. After a short moment, she encouraged herself to use the phone to call her family and return it. Her phone would probably be with Ella. Lily picked the phone from Drey's hand with two of her fingers like she was picking up rubbish from the dustbin. Her face was still disfigured in disgust. "Do you know the password –" she was saying as she wanted to press the power button but as she sighted her reflection that was cast upon the phone screen, she was startled. "The phone is off. You need to switch on –" "Ahh! –" Lily screamed and threw the phone on the bed but Roseline quickly covered her mouth again tightly. "This is a coma ward, Angela! Keep it down!" Roseline admonished Lily but Lily was not anything close to listening to her. She kept screaming. Roseline's hand that was covering her mouth helped reduce the intensity and the pitch of the shriek. "Angela, please calm down! Someone in a coma could lose his life because of your scream," Drey said as he rushed towards her to calm her down. After about thirty seconds of screaming with her mouth covered, Lily got a hold of herself and stopped screeching. Roseline noticed that Lily was done screaming so she proposed a negotiation. "Okay, Angela. I'm taking my hand off your mouth now but on the condition you don't scream again." Lily nodded in agreement. Drey stood close to Lily while Roseline took her hand off Lily's mouth slowly. Immediately, Lily's eyes beheld her reflection again on the phone which she had dumped on the bed, she wanted to let out another shriek but Drey and Roseline threw their hands at the same time to cover her mouth swiftly. "Calm down, sist! What is the problem? What is wrong? What did you see? Did you see a ghost?" Drey asked. "Angela, we can't help you if you keep screaming. Calm down and tell us the problem," Roseline advised. Her hand was still on Lily's mouth. Lily nodded her head slowly showing that she had come into agreement with what they were saying. Roseline removed her hand slowly from Lily's mouth, sceptical if she would scream again. "Whose reflection was that on the phone's screen?! That wasn't me!" Lily said immediately her mouth was uncovered. She was pointing at the phone frightened. "I don't understand what you are saying, Angela," Roseline said, picking up the phone from where Lily threw it. "Whose reflection are you talking about?" "Mum, is there a ghost in here?" Drey asked, equally confused. "I can't see anyone on the screen except from my reflection," Roseline said, taking the phone to Lily. "This!" Lily exclaimed immediately her reflection appeared on the phone screen. "Oh! You almost had me startled," Roseline said and smiled softly. "That is your reflection." No! This is not how I look!" Lily protested. "As a matter of fact, it is. Let me show you." Roseline switched on the phone. Put on the selfie camera and handed the phone to Lily. Lily saw a reflection of a young lady of about twenty-one years old on the phone. She held her cheek and realized that it was really her on the camera. "This is not my face! I'm not this young and I'm not . . ." Lily's voice trailed as she noticed that the sound of her voice she had been using to talk. The voice was also strange. She had noticed the voice difference when she first woke up from a coma but she ignored it to face pressing issues. Everything began to make sense: The name "Angela", the strange faces around her – everything! Somehow, she was in someone else's body. Meaning, she had died during the execution. The door swung open and Lily was pulled out of her reverie. The doctor appeared at the door with two nurses and Mac beside him. "The nurses informed me that they heard screaming from here. Is anything the matter?" the doctor asked Lily in a concerned tone. Lily shook her head gently, still too awestruck to utter words. "She is fine!" Mac said to the doctor. "That's not why you are here. Take all your wires and drips off her body. I am not big on time wastage." Lily couldn't understand what Mac was saying. She turned her eyes gently to the doctor for clarification. "You are discharged and free to go with this gentleman here," the doctor said in a tone that showed that it was against his will. "But doctor, I'm still weak and need rest," Lily said slowly. "I'm sorry Lily but you can't stay here any longer," the doctor said. He signalled to the nurses to take off everything attached to Lily's body. "You won't be resting where we are going either," Mac said with a scoff. Lily's face contoured in anger and disgust at Mac's words. From the two encounters she had with him, she already disliked him terribly.
