"So from the graph, we have on the screen, we can see that the total amount of companies using our online advertising services in the last six months has grown progressively to about double what was recorded before developing the advertising application . . ." Frednard was in a meeting with the head of departments in his company. The head of the Information and Technology department was giving a presentation but somehow, Frednard's mind was distracted by memory of the event that occurred in the hospital about an hour ago. It wasn't only the fact that Angela called him by his name but the boldness in her eyes as she spoke. Before the accident she had, Angela was shy and had never looked him in the face during her few days of serving him. The unwavering eye contact she matched with his at the hospital was what majorly left a print on his mind. He knew the doctor had said that it was the usual aftermath of the coma but it was still difficult for him to overlook what happened. The readings on the ECG were another mystery he couldn't wrap his mind around. Some guesses were coming to his mind but he shoved them to the side. If he had left her in the hospital for more study as Doctor Richard proposed, it might somehow attract the media in the long run and that would have brought the nose of media into his private life. He didn't want that so he rather she wasn't examined further. She was alive and that was enough. ". . . Not only that," the head of Information and Technology was still going on with his presentation. "Significant high numbers of tasks are being carried out simultaneously over a short period. If we check the chart –" "That would be okay for now, I.T. department," Frednard stopped the ongoing presentation. "Thank you very much for your time." He was not in the right mood to continue with the presentation. The overly light voice of the head I.T. was irritating to his ears. "Should I bring up the head of the Accounting department to do his presentation?" Kate, Frednard's secretary who was also in charge of the order of the meeting, asked Frednard. "No, there would be no need for that," Frednard said as he sat up in his huge chair. "That would be all for today. I would fix some other day for the continuation of this meeting." He stood up and said, "Everyone can return to their departments. We are done here." With the meeting dismissed, Frednard left the conference room with Kate following him. The two bodyguards who stood behind the door of the conference room, followed behind Frednard when he came out of the conference hall. "What else is on my schedule today?" Frednard asked Kate as he walked. Kate unlocked an iPad that she had with her and went through Frednard's schedule for that afternoon. She was about to give Frednard a reply when his phone rang. Picking up the phone, Frednard answered, "Yes, Mac? Has she been taken to the house already?" His right hand slid into the right pocket of his trousers as stopped walking. He held the phone to his ear with his left hand as he listened to what Mac said on the other side of the phone. The two guards and Kate also halted behind him while the heads of the various departments walked past them. Kate held her iPad close to her chest, waiting for Frednard to be done with his phone call. "What do you mean by 'you couldn't take her to the house'?" Frednard questioned. His voice rose a bit and frown lines formed between his eyes. "Who took her?!" Frednard's phone conversation began to interest Kate. She knew that it was concerning the new slave girl so she inclined her ears to get more information. "So where was she taken to and where are you now?" Kate strained her ears to eavesdrop on the other side of the phone conversation but Frednard had his call volume on the lowest. Her vampire super hearing wasn't too effective during the day hence all her attempt to hear Mac's part of the story, was futile. Her curiosity began to grow due to her inability to hear everything. Frednard had left the office to the hospital earlier that day and she knew it was to see the new slave girl. She couldn't understand why Frednard had an interest in this mere mortal slave girl he had brought to his house two weeks ago. She had contemplated if Frednard was interested in the slave girl but she knew Frednard was too lofty to stoop that low. "I would pick you up," Frednard said and ended the call. "Is anything the matter, sir?" Kate asked after Frednard took the phone off his ears. Her curiosity drove her like a vehicle. "Clear my schedule for this evening and tonight. I have something important I have to attend to," Frednard instructed Kate. "But the –" "I don't care! Cancel it!" He barked and walked away with his bodyguards. Kate stood there watching Frednard exit the hallway. She began to think that her speculations might be right. Frednard might have something going on secretly with that mere mortal. She knew that Frednard had other mistresses but she (Kate) was the one who had the most of Frednard's attention. The sudden drift of bulk attention to the new slave girl made her uncomfortable. The fact that the competition in question was not only an ordinary mortal but also a slave, made her feel insulted. Kate had been too sure that Frednard was going to make her (Kate) his queen in the immediate future but this current development was a direct threat to that position. She was not going to sit with her hands folded and watch her dream die before her eyes. Never! She was never going to let all the efforts she had put in for a long time go to waste. She knew she needed to do something fast but firstly, she had to lay low and watch them closely like a leopard trailing its prey because Frednard was not an easy nut to c***k.
