I arrive at the airport, greeting everyone else. Getting hugs and kisses on my cheeks. “Ready for ten days on beautiful St Thomas ?”

“Yeah, but I want to hear about the girl Owen”. Isabel says, smiling at me. “Sebastian told me that you are bringing a girl”.

“You are bringing someone ? But the cabin only has 4 bedrooms ... someone will be without a bed”. Madison doesn't look too happy.

Oliver folds his arm around her shoulder. “Don’t worry darling, I have volunteered to crash on a couch or pull-out bed. You will have a bed”.

“So Owen ... who is she ? I didn’t know you were dating someone ... but hey we never know do we ?” Lily says with a grin.

“Sorry guys to spring it on you like this”. I look around at them. “It’s … pretty new to be honest..”.

“Great ...”. Madison rolls her eyes. “So you are bringing the flavour of the month ... again ... seriously this trip is supposed to be just us friends”.

Isabel clears her throat. “Oh stop it Madison, we all know you are just jealous because you hoped to share Owen’s room with him again”.

Madison’s cheeks flush and everyone laughs, except me. I hadn’t expected that honestly. I mean yeah we shared a room on last year's trip, and yeah it ended up with a couple of pretty heated nights, but I never thought there was more to it.

“Sorry ... I didn’t mean to make trouble”. I run a hand through my hair. “It was a spur of the moment thing. I couldn’t bear having to be away from her”.

“It’s fine Owen, just like I said on the phone”. Sebastian says, padding my shoulder. “I am sure we are all happy that you found someone”. He glares at Madison. “So ... who is she ?”

I breathe in. “Her name is Hope, and she is utterly amazing ... like it’s just like we click completely ... she gets me”.

“Aw Owen, that sounds wonderful”. Kylie looks genuinely happy for me. “So how long have you been dating ?”

“Since the … 26th. We talked for a couple of days before that”. I bite my lip.

Kylie looks slightly confused. “The 26th of what ?”

“December”. I look at my feet.

“Seriously Owen ... you dated her for 2 days and now you are bringing her on our holiday ?” Madison looks more pissed now. “God you men are so easy sometimes”.

I look at the stair and see Hope slowly walk down. “Okay guys, I know it’s a bit weird.. and I know it’s shocking. But please behave, because she is coming over now”.

For once she looks a bit shy walking over and I step up to her, kissing her softly. “Hi baby, I am happy you are here. Come meet everyone”.

“Okay”. She looks at me worried, and I fold my arm protectively around her waist.

“Everyone, this is Hope”. I tell them and they nod, with friendly smiles. Even Madison is faking one. “Darling this is Sebastian and Isabel, and this other lovely couple is Jaxon and Lillian, or just Jax and Lily. Our two single ladies here are Kylie and Madison and this guy that you have to watch out for is Oliver”.

She looks around smiling. “Hi.. and thank you for letting me tag along, I know I am kind of just budging in here”.

“Aww don’t worry about that.. you are very welcome and we are all happy to see Owen smiling like that”. Isabel say.

*Hope*

“So what do you think ? Everyone seems to like you”. Owen says softly, just after take off.

I lean my head on his shoulder. “They all seem nice and like they really care for you.. I am not sure ... Madison.. likes me”.

“She might be jealous”. He swallows. “I guess you better know ... we ... well me and her kind of had a fling”.

“Ohh”. I look at the beautiful brunette. And now it is easy to see. She wants Owen back. “So ... when and for how long”.

He takes my hand. “It doesn’t really matter, it was just ... Well a fling. It was last year on the trip, after someone suggested we shared the rooms boy-girl, I was paired with Madison and Well ... we spent the holiday together. Sebastian and Isabel also shared a room, they are still dating”.

“So … why are you and Madison not.. still dating I mean ?” I look at him. They would make a handsome couple and probably have very beautiful kids.

“It was a fling”. He sighs. “I had been through some rough times, finally everything seemed to be going well. I thought I was ready to find love and I might have gotten a bit.. carried away. I had to start filming, she had to go home and I soon realised that it had just been a … fling”.

I breathe a little more easily. “Okay then.. so I don’t need to worry”.

“About me and Madison ? No.. not at all”. He glances at her, then leans closer, so he is sure only I can hear him. “To be blunt ... been there, done that, and I did not want to bring home the t-shirt”.

I gasp slightly. “Owen ! That was not very nice. She is a very beautiful woman”.

“Sure.. she is beautiful.. but I have no desire to go back there and no desire to date her. If I hadn’t met you I still wouldn’t have wanted to go back to her”. He says softly. “I am sure you will see why”.

I nod, leaning back against his shoulder. Honestly I don’t like the idea of a woman he slept with being here, especially when she clearly is not over him. But on the other hand, he seems very much over her, so I guess I have nothing to fear.

But everyone else seemed super nice and I decide that I am going to keep an open mind towards Madison too. I mean if she was really that bad, why would they all be friends with her ?

Soon I drift off, my head resting on Owen’s shoulder.
