Chapter Four

1060 Words
"Don't create a scene here, Mr. Radriel, you're late." I heard that voice approaching from the door and I immediately swerved and met the shock of my life. "What are you doing here?" I growled and, almost immediately, Skyler yanked the hem of my suit. "What is everyone doing here!" He answered and immediately took his seat. I stared at Delmore one last time as my looks had turned cold and bloodthirsty and, just like that, he immediately switched seats. That was for his benefit though, because no one could stop me when I started unleashing my rage. I sat while Skyler stood behind me and the discussion resumed. "So as we were saying, the market rate of most raw industrial goods has increased by 10% due to the advertising department. And I think creating room for the advertising department wasn't a bad idea, after all, Mr. Radriel." A board member glanced at me while the others nodded their heads in agreement. "Of course, it isn't at all a bad idea, but I think there's something else we need to address apart from the market rate," I said, and they all glanced at me. The discussion continued like that for hours, and now and then, I'd steal a few glances at the man who entered earlier. At the end of the discussion, everyone stood up to leave while others went to greet their partners. As for me, I was about to leave when this mysterious man whose name was Logan walked up to me. "Nice to see you again, Adriel, after a long while." He greeted me with a slight smile on his face. "What do you want?" I asked in a gruff voice that depicted my lack of interest in whatever he wanted to say. "That's not a nice way to begin a conversation with your old-time friend." He chuckled, though I wasn't finding him funny. "One last time, what do you want?." I was running out of patience already and felt like slitting his head. "Just wanted to remind you of my business proposal in case you've forgotten." He started and with that, he walked away. What's wrong with people these days? How many misfortunes would befall me today? How many more would I see? Here was Logan asking me to merge my company with his and, worst of all, he'd be the leader while I was the subordinate. Gawd, some people need to die without Pity. " Skyler, let's move." I signaled while standing up and he trailed me behind. We went back to the company, took care of some paperwork, and went back to my Villa. That was the normal routine every day though, while every weekend I would visit the packing house and make sure things were running smoothly. It wasn't at all an easy task but I tried to manage it somehow. One day, inquisitiveness took the better part of me and I decided to visit Hailey's home. Not like, I wanted to see her, duh, 'cause if I did, I would kill her in the slowest yet most painful way ever. Watching her die would be an enjoyable leisure. When I got to her house, the house looked so shabby and dirty, it seemed like no one had visited that place in a while. From the information I garnered from the neighbors, she hadn't come back to the house ever since our failed wedding day. Interesting!!!!! She had better run away, far away from my reach. ~~Three Years Later~~ I was sitting in my office going through some new designs and paperwork when I immediately decided to phone the HOD. "Did you conduct the interview yesterday as planned?." I asked immediately if he answered the call. "Yes, boss." He replied swiftly. "Were any of the applicants employed?" I demanded. "Yes boss, a lady was taken for the post of secretary." He answered. "Matt, did I not warn you not to employ a female as the secretary?" I asked in a hoarse voice as I banged my desk. "I'm sorry boss, we were in dire need of a secretary and there were no male applicants for that position. Moreover, from the interview, she seemed intelligent and capable of the tasks involved. She will be resuming work today" he explained and I sighed. "Alright then," I concluded and ended the call. I've been avoiding all contact with women for the past three years and now my HOD has roped me into another torture. How would I bear to see my secretary as a female every morning, every minute she wants to inform me of something or drop memos and have my signature on some papers? How would I bear it without having the urge to slit her throat? Within a few minutes, The HOD called in again to inform me that the secretary had resumed. I knew the next thing was for her to come to my office for formality's sake, so I packed up my things and used my private elevator, and went home. I ran out of my company just because of a woman. It's better than having my name all over the news that I committed murder. I went back to my village and went straight to my room and slumped on the bed. I took off my clothes and ran a very cold shower. Now that reminds me, I haven't seen Skyler since I came back. I put on some pajamas and a pair of flip-flops and moved straight to Skyler's room. As brothers we were, I just pushed open his door and beheld an annoying sight that made me bang the door tightly and move straight to the parlor. I just wanted to space out in the world something so I turned on the TV to watch Netflix or something. A few moments later, Skyler came down shirtless sweating profusely even though the air conditioner was on with a smug look on his face. "You know, you've got to knock before entering my room next time if you don't want to see a horrific sight." He said with that same smug look on his face. "What's so horrific about having s*x with a girl?" I asked nonchalantly. "Horrific to you though," Skyler said, slumping into one of the armchairs. "That's not the point, anyway, there's an issue at the company."
