CHAPTER FOUR

THE HUSHER'S

Valerie stood before a huge mansion in awe.

"This building can contain a whole city, people actually live here?" She mumbled to herself.

"Valerie!" A voice called out

Valerie turned to look where the voice was coming from and saw that it was uncle Vill's friend who offered her the job of a maid.

"Welcome, hope you're doing good?" He asked

"Sure sir" Valerie replied

"Come on Valerie, you can address me as Mr Bailey" he said smiling

"Alright Mr Bailey" she replied returning the smile and they entered the mansion.

The mansion had really huge doors that seemed to be made out of the most expensive woods which required two men to pull open, it had tall ceilings and large windows, various sculptures and moldings that were mounted in the right places, even the interior decorations seemed to be lavish ones inspired by the best architects with the archways carefully installed in the right places. It had a really nice and well maintained garden, a pool, even some sporting tracks like a tennis court and a basketball court. This was indeed one huge mansion…….

"Whoa! Valerie exclaimed

"I've never seen a house this big before"

"It's quite big, you'll be working here from now on, good luck" Mr Bailey said and he called out to one of the maids

"This is the new maid, please take her in and tell her more about her job" Mr Bailey said and left.

"Come on" the girl requested as she pulled Valerie with her to a room to get her in uniform. Valerie kept on admiring the mansion until they reached the room.

Valerie was cleaning one of the sculptures in the living room along with three other girls who were cleaning up too until a bell was rung and immediately the girls working along with Valerie stopped what they were doing and started moving towards the dinning area. Valerie was a bit confused but just followed them. When they got to the dinning room, some other maids were already there each on separate columns and they just joined in.

Valerie was perplexed as to what was going on but was scared to ask because nobody seemed to want to talk at that moment. Soon after, the chefs came out with trays of food and placed them on the dinning table. The food looked so good that could make one salivate, and the chefs just stood beside the table. Not too long, a man who seemed to be in his late 50's walking with the aid of a medical walking stick came down with the assistance of Mr Bailey to eat and he sat down also being aided by Mr Bailey, he seemed to be the owner of the mansion. After that two other women who seemed younger than the man but were still advanced in age came down stairs but following opposite directions of the stairs. One of the women had ebony black hair that was permed while the other had blonde hair. Both of them sat down also to eat. The chef was about to dish out the food for them when the man stopped him

"Where's Aiden? He asked

"he said he wouldn't be joining in for breakfast sir" Mr Bailey answered. At that very moment, Aiden was coming down the stairs and seemed to be in a rush to leave the house.

"Aiden!" Why aren't you having breakfast?" The man asked

When Aiden had turned around to reply, Valerie saw his face and his face seemed familiar. "Wait… I've seen that face before" Valerie said in her head. "Where have I seen this face? Then it struck her…. It was the good-looking guy who almost ran Ida over…. "Oh my gosh!" I can't believe it… so this….this is his house?.. so I'm literally working for this man?? Oh no! Wait… what if he recognizes me and fires me because of what I said to him? No..no..no, I can't let him recognize me if I want to keep this job… why does the universe hate me!!!"

"Father, I have a very important meeting to attend this morning, I'll have breakfast later"Aiden replied

"Why don't you have at least a little bit?" Aiden's father insisted but was interrupted by one of the women

"Let him be, he said he'll have breakfast later, so why disturb him? Go on Aiden" the woman with the ebony black hair said

"Yeah mum, I'll see you later" Aiden replied

Then the woman with the blonde hair smiled at Aiden and said

"make sure you have breakfast" but Aiden ignored her and just left which faded the smile on her face as she slowly looked at Aiden's father who also seemed sad then looked at Aiden's mother;the one with ebony black hair, who had a grin on her face. Aiden's behavior wondered Valerie as she just watched him leave the house.

“What would he do that to her?, I guess he's still arrogant even at home" Valerie said in her head.

Valerie seemed to be in awe as she stood in front of an enormous bathroom holding cleaning brushes

"Whoa!! Is this just a bathroom? It could fit my entire house!" She said out loud

"Hey, pretty" Valerie turned around to see a young girl who seemed to be her age and also a maid there

"Uhmm.. you referring to me?" Valerie questioned, the girl nodded in affirmation to Valerie's question

"Well uhmm, I was just about to start cleaning up" Valerie added

"I know, I just wanted to ask if we could be friends, you can learn faster about your work if you have a close friend around and you're really……. pretty……" the girl said pouting her lips like that of a baby, Valerie was a bit puzzled but just said

"oh.. alright"

"So… I'm Amelia"

"Ohh.. uhmm I'm Valerie but you can call me Val"

"Sure thing val, as from today we're officially friends" Amelia said with a really beautiful smile on her face that made her cute dimples show. Amelia was also really pretty, she had the cutest eyes and lips, even her hair was long and she seemed to be a good person.

"Val, I'm done with my work why don't I help you do yours?"

"Wow!, Thanks Amelia, I would really love that" then they started cleaning after a few minutes, Valerie just had to ask Amelia about the family

"Uhmm.. Amelia, could you tell me about the people in this house? Uhmm I really want to know why two women were there this morning" Valerie asked

"Of course Val,....... Well you see, the man using the medical walking stick is Mr Husher, he is the owner of this mansion, he has several companies across the world and he's a billionaire. Unfortunately, he had a stroke that paralyzed his legs but is gradually healing. He has only one son, Aiden Husher, he is currently managing all his father's companies but also has his. He is one of the biggest business tycoon and a multi-billionaire, he is the son of Miss Jessica Vonn, the woman with the ebony black hair, but she's not Mr Husher's legal wife, she's his mistress. Mr Husher's legal wife is Mrs Prima Husher, the woman with the blonde hair. She doesn't have a child for him, leaving his illegitimate son, Aiden to be his heir".

"Whoa, but why was he so cold to Mrs Prima this morning?" Valerie asked

"Well you see, Aiden doesn't get along with her that much, even though she thinks of him as her son." Amelia replied

"But Mr Aiden seems to be a cold person at heart" Valerie added

"Yes, the only person he'll listen to is his father and mother, but to me, the only person he loves is his mother"

"Hmph" Valerie sighed as they continued their cleaning

"Nobody has been able to understand this family fully Val, so just do the job you're being paid for okay?"

Valerie nodded in affirmation to Amelia and they continued their work.
