Love at First Sight
Chapter One – A Chance Encounter
It was monday afternoon. The sun blazed over the university campus as students rushed to lectures. Abel, a quiet and focused second-year student from the department of Library and Information science made his way to the School library, his safe haven.
At the entrance of Benue State University Library, the door flew open. There was a girl, balancing a tower of books. She stumbled, and the stack tumbled toward the ground.
Before she could panic, Abel packed some things that stumbled and said to the lady, be careful
He said, slightly breathless.
Wow, thank you! , she replied, brushing her hair from her face. Her smile lit up the moment.
I am Juliet,” she introduced herself.
Abel, he said softly. Their eyes lingered on each other for a heartbeat too long, and though they both looked away, something had begun.
Chapter Two – The Friendship
Abel kept seeing Juliet around the university campus, More often in the library, even at the garden bench where she loved reading novels. He finally joined her one afternoon.
May I sit?” Abel asked.
Juliet smiled warmly. “Of course not. You are my book rescuer said Juliet.
They laughed, and soon, conversations flowed effortlessly. Juliet, a sociology student, was vibrant, expressive, and full of dreams. Abel admired her boldness, while she admired his calm strength.
Study sessions turned into lunch breaks, and late-night exam calls became their routine. Students started whispering about how inseparable they were.
Abel would smile but remain silent, hiding feelings he was not brave enough to confess the feelings he had on Juliet.
Chapter Three – The Storm
As Faculty of social sciences was about to commence her cultural week, Juliet was chosen to lead her faculty’s cultural play. Rehearsals took most of her evenings, often with David, her outspoken co-actor who never hid his admiration for her.
Abel tried to ignore it, but one night he saw David walk Juliet back from rehearsal, laughing together. A sharp pang of jealousy cut through him.
The next day, Abel's words came out harsher than intended. Are you and David have something in common?.
Juliet frowned. Abel! How could you think that? David is just a teammate. Why would you even ask ?
Abel hesitated, then answered“Because I can't stand seeing you with him. I love you, Juliet. From the first day at the library, I knew. I just didn't know how to tell you.”
Juliet's expression softened. She stepped closer and touched his arm. Abel do you know why I always save you a seat in the library? Why I wait for you after class? Because I loved you too. I was only waiting for you to be brave enough to say it.”
Chapter Four – Trials and Triumphs
Their relationship blossomed, but challenges followed. Some students gossiped, claiming Juliet only liked Abel for his brains, while others teased Abel for dating a campus star.
During Juliet's play, nerves got the better of her, and she nearly forgot her lines. But when she glanced into the crowd, Abel was right there, smiling and nodding, giving her the courage to continue.
After the show, Juliet ran straight to him backstage. I couldn't have done it without you, she whispered.
And I will always be here, Abel replied.
Their bond grew stronger, surviving whispers, tests, and late-night struggles. They learned that love wasn't just about sweet words, but standing together through storms and challenges.
Chapter Five – A Love Sealed
At the end of the semester, the campus was alive with celebration. Students danced, laughed, and sang. Abel took Juliet's hand and led her away from the noise to the quiet garden bench where their friendship started.
Juliet, he said, holding her hand tightly, I may not have the exact words to say this. I will never stop choosing you.
Juliet's eyes glistened. And I Willll never stop choosing you either. You are my best decision, Abel.
They leaned closer, and as their lips met in a tender kiss, the campus lights twinkled in the distance.
What had started as a simple accident at the library had become a story of love at first sight. One that would carry them far beyond the walls of the university.
Chapter Six – New Beginnings
The semester ended, and campus slowly grew quieter as students packed their bags to return home. For Abel and Juliet, it was bittersweet—they had conquered exams, gossip, and family doubts, but the long holiday ahead meant weeks apart.
On their last evening together before the break, Abel invited Juliet to the old library steps—the very place they had first met. The sunset bathed the campus in golden light.
“Do you remember this spot?” Abel asked, smiling.
Juliet laughed. “How could I forget? I nearly broke my neck with those books, and you caught them like some kind of hero.”
Maybe that was fate’s way of introducing us.” He grew serious, his voice steady. “Juliet, I don’t want this to be just a campus fling. I want us to last lifetime. . .
