Chapter 11

1170 Words
Barrett's POV My head was pounding and I did not feel the electricity anymore on my body so I knew my mate as gone. I was able to open my eyes but quickly shut them when the sun made my head feel worse. Ugh why did I go and get myself hurt? I turned my head to peak at the clock on the side table 9:00, okay so I was not out very long, there was also a glass of water and a pill with a note Take this as soon as you wake up -R. I sat up and coughed as the pain in my side was still present, it was not as strong, took the pill and drank some water, which tasted amazing, I was definitely dehydrated. I looked to the bathroom and noticed the door open and the room empty. I might as well get a shower and clean myself up before heading out. I looked in the mirror and took off my shirt. My side was black and purple, but no claw marks were present. Thank goddess for Rebecka. I showered and noticed new clothes in the room. Holden must have brought these from the car. My head was feeling better already and I opened the door to see Stefan and Elliot standing there. "Good morning guys" I smiled at them "Morning Alpha", they said in unison with a bow "how are you feeling?" Stefan asked worried. "Much better today, thankfully, whatever Rebecka gave me worked, it worked like a charm" I giggled at my pun. That's when I heard it everyone downstairs laughing but the one that stuck out was Adaline's. I made my way down the stairs and I stood at the bottom looking at the scene before me. They were all sitting at the table eating the most amazing smelling pancakes. Heather had a small toddler on her lap who looked just like his mother except for blonder hair. That must be James, goddess. He was cute. I couldn't help but smile. She must have sensed me because the next thing I know knew, Adaline and I were looking into each others eyes and my heart started pounding. I know I looked like a love sick puppy in that moment and I did not care. "Good morning Barrett, how do you feel?" came from Rebecka. Damn her. I was having a moment, "Good morning everyone, I am feeling much better, thank you Beck and thank you Adaline. I'm guessing you forced everyone to bring me here" I said teasingly, and her face became extremely red. She nodded and talked about how Rebecka had helped James a number of times. The next thing I knew was the little guy was standing right in front of me, which made me nervous. "Woah you have blue hair, up please!" he asked with his arms as high as they could go, wanting to be picked up. I completely froze and looked at Adaline to see what I should do, as I knew she didn't want to introduce us just yet, but she smiled and nodded. I picked him up and he wrapped his arms around my neck. I couldn't help but smile. "Hi, I'm James, what is your name and I like your hair." He was super advanced in his speech. I was surprised and I couldn't help but laugh at his honesty. "Wow James, that was a big sentence but its nice to meet you and thank you I like it too!" Well, this is going to be interesting I thought. "So James what have you been doing with my friends all morning? Have they been nice to you?" He smiled wide "We played all morning and Sam said I could have Heather!" My eyes went wide and I laughed, looking at Heather. She was beaming and Sam just giggled. "I said we could share James" he laughed out. "He says share, but she's going to be Mine when I'm older." He looked very certain of that, I wondered maybe Sam and Heather's next baby would be a girl. Like I said interesting. "Well I'm glad you are all getting along." I sat at the table and Rebecka placed a plate in front of me. "Thank you Beck, for everything you know I owe you." I think it was the first time she smiled at me. "It's not a problem you know I help your uhm, family, when I can, plus I have some supplies for the hospital anyways that I can just hand you instead of having to make the drive." She absolutely hates coming to the pack lands which I understand, she has told me her background with wolves and we try our best to reassure her that she is safe but it is to be expected with her past. "You know you are always welcome and of course you could have a position at the hospital and a home built there all you have to do is say so" she looked like she was thinking it over. "Maybe in the future, we will see what comes out of everything here soon" she winked at me and walked back to the kitchen to clean up. Please tell me Adaline did not see that. I peeked at her and she was staring me down. She definitely saw. "James, after I finish eating, would you mind if I took your mom outside to talk for a bit, I'll let these three stay and play with you while we talk okay?" He jumped out of my lap with a huge grin and ran towards the stairs. "Hey where are you going mister" Adaline giggled out, "to get all my toys from my room, we are gonna have so much fun" he screamed running up the stairs. I couldn't help but laugh. Adaline looked at me worried though, "Don't worry its nothing bad I just want to talk and get to know you a little more if that's okay?" I tried to reassure her. "Okay sure, yeah that sounds good" she got up and brought her plate to the sink and helped Beck clean. "You're gonna tell her aren't you?" Holden whispered low enough for her not to hear but with our hearing it was audible. "I'm going to try, when I was out I got a visit from the Moon Goddess and she put a lot of things into perspective for me and we all need to have a meeting when we get back as well since she also left me with a warning" they all gasped "wait the Moon Goddess spoke with you?" Heather asked. "Like I said I'll tell everyone when we get back to the pack house" I don't think that satisfied them as Holden was about to protest but James came over handing each a toy and grabbing Sam by the hand. "Come on let's go!" I was saved by the toddler, ice cream is definitely in his future for the perfect timing.
