Chapter 24

Barrett's POV

Three times, THREE TIMES. My mate allowed me to fully mate with her and not once but three times in a row. I'm trying to get dressed and ready for lunch but I am having a very hard time focusing. I used all my strength to not mark her, so I don't have much left. At the moment when she said she was sure, I knew she was comfortable with me and my heart exploded. I am falling for her more naturally, as the mate bond is not fully intact since she doesn't have her wolf yet. I almost like this way better as I get to know her for her and not what my bond tells me to feel. I won't tell her I love her yet because I don't want to scare her, but I do. I love Adaline with all my heart. I finally pulled myself together and threw on a simple tshirt and jeans since I will be in meetings all day again today. I made my way across the hall to Adaline's room. I can't wait to have all our things in one room.

"Adaline? Are you ready?" I didn't see her in the room or the bathroom, so I made my way to the closet. I started to feel her anxiety, so I ran to her. "Adaline, what's wrong?" I saw her with just her bra and a pair of jeans sitting on the floor holding something. I scooped her up and saw that she was teary eyed and looked at what she was holding. Her wedding band. s**t. I sat down with her in my arms. "Hey, look at me okay, I need you to look me in the eyes." She hesitated for a moment but looked up at me this time, letting the tears fall. "I want you to put that on" her eyes went wide "Put it on." I all but demanded of her. She didn't budge, so I did it for her. "I know you are probably feeling awful and happy all at the same time, you feel like you are betraying him. Adaline, you aren't. He would not be mad, he loved you and would want you to be happy. I don't want to ever let you or James forget him because he was your first real love, and that is okay with me. I will never be mad that you wore his ring. The fact that you just tried to take it off because of what we did is not okay. Eventually, we will pass that diamond down to James when he gets married, hopefully anyway. Hell I wish I could have met him, I would have shaken his hand and thanked him for taking care of what I love and making her happy." Her head shot up and she looked at me. Ah s**t, f**k. "You did it now man, there is no going back, plus we mated. All that is left is to mark her. Which I tried to do 3 times! So you would have had to tell her anyway." He wasn't wrong, still I internally rolled my eyes at him.

"What did you say?" I have two options, one to admit defeat. Two, run and hide. " Barrett, I heard it, say it again." She was getting a bit more aggressive. I'm running! "Like hell you are, SAY IT!" "Adaline, I mean it's not hard to miss." She stood up and put her hands on her hips, she was mom staring at me now, damn she was scary. "SAY IT". "Okay!" I put my hands up in defeat. "Adaline I love you, and it is not just the mate bond talking, I love you for you. I would do anything to make you happy and make sure that you are always happy. I even love James. He is a perfect little man." Next thing I knew, her lips were crushing mine and she was straddling my lap. Her kiss became more hungry and passionate. She started grinding her hips and her core against me. I felt my c**k spring to life again and was busting to come out of my pants. Not that I was not into it, but 4 times in less than an hour and a half I needed to refuel soon. I had us flipped now so I was on top of her, her hands were tugging at my pants desperately trying to get them off. The smell of her arousal was driving me insane.

Knock Knock. Ignore it, Ignore it. "Mommy? Mommy, I'm hungry. Can we go eat?" We both froze. He comes first, Barrett, he comes first. I let out a sigh, though "Come on, let's get up and going, he is hungry and needs his mom." I slowly stood up and readjusted myself. She stared at me hungerly. I couldn't help but laugh. "Don't worry, we will pick this up later, I promise." I helped her up and walked to the door and opened it. James came running in "Mommy!" "Hi baby, I see you are ready for lunch." He nodded quickly, "Barrett, can we play later, puhlease!" I couldn't help but laugh. "Sure we can bud. First I do have some work to do. How about later? If it is okay with mom, I let Shaw out and you can play with him?" He squealed "Can I mommy!" She smiled wide at him "sure I think that would be good for you to get along with him." Shaw was wagging like crazy in my head. "Are you excited to play with him Shaw?" I teased to him. "Make fun all you want, but I enjoy that little guy and cant wait to bond wit him, I'm gonna take him for a ride around the yard." I can see that happening. We got to the hall, James had jumped to me half way down the stairs. He saw my parents walking towards us and wiggled free of me and ran right towards them. My mom happily picked him up and spun around, she grabbed my dad's hand and took them both to the buffet. Once we got seated with everyone, I felt the energy shift as Beck came to sit. " What's wrong?" They all looked at me funny. "Barrett, I know you arranged a meeting for after lunch. I will fill everyone in then." Adaline was looking back and forth between us and Beck gave her a look. "Alright, I won't press, but eat fast if you want me to not freak out Beck." I was hoping no bad news but the energy I am getting off Beck means this meeting may not be as fast as I hoped. I grabbed Adaline's hand to reassure her but more to calm myself down. I am going to eat as slowly as possible. I had too good of a morning to bring it all down.
