Chapter 31

Adaline's POV

I was woken by the sound of several people talking downstairs. I noticed Barrett had moved from the bed and was no longer in the room. It was very weird waking up in my old room, but I did sleep great. I glanced at the clock next to the bed that read 3:30. My uncle and cousins must be here then. As I made my way down the stairs, I noticed a small girl running around in the foyer with Sawyer and James. She looked to be around 2 or 3. She had beautiful long blond curls and piercing blue eyes that seemed close to mine, she smiled and had the cutest dimples when she saw me. James and Sawyer both smiled and waved and continued to run and play. That must be Rachel's little girl. I got to the kitchen and noticed everyone piled around the island and dining room table. Renee is talking to a man who looks just like my mother and her facial expression seems to be in awe. Uncle Oliver.

I felt overwhelmed at this point, I felt arms wrap around my waist and I knew it was Barrett. "Did you sleep well?" his whisper was right next to my ear. I smiled and turned to him. "Yes actually I slept very well, I can see, it's quite intense down here." He laughed "Yes it sure is. My mother hasn't left Oliver alone or stopped the questions." I didn't blame her honestly, as apparently to the rest of the world they did not exist. "Adaline honey come here its time you met some people." My Papa motioned for me to come to him he was standing behind the island next to Renee and Oliver. "Adaline this is your Uncle Oliver and Aunt Emily." Emily was a smaller woman but built in stature she had long blond hair and the most beautiful green eyes, she smiled wide and hugged me warmly, "Oh Adaline you are absolutely gorgeous and look just like your mother." She held me at arms length looking at me with tears in her eyes. "Now Emily don't start that already let's get introductions done first" my uncle laughed out. He stepped around, and I noticed he was quite tall, 6'3 perhaps, my auburn hair color and blue eyes. That's definitely a family trait. He too hugged me and I heard a small sniffle from him, "look who's talking Ollie." Emily mocked. "Yeah well, it's like looking at both Charlotte and Alexander again. My goodness, you mirror them both perfectly. And it's also been 10 years since we last saw her."

"Now let me introduce to you your cousins, Rachel and Chloe. This is your cousin Adaline, the one you have been told about." It was like looking in the mirror with Rachel except she has long blond curly hair and green eyes, while Chloe has auburn curly hair and blue eyes, but looks more like Emily. "Holy hell, I thought me and Barrett looked identical but damn you two could literally, be twins if it wasn't for the age gap." Holden said. Everyone was nodding in agreement. "Alpha" Barrett said and bowed to Rachel, who bowed back. "Adaline, I am so excited to finally meet you, this is my mate David, our daughter Lilly is around here somewhere playing with the boys." David was also taller but around 6 foot even. He was handsome and had the typical wolf linebacker build like the majority I have seen, but much more of an observant type. I liked that we could get along well. "It is nice to meet you Adaline", he nodded and shook both mine and Barretts hands. Chloe basically ran me over as she pushed into hug me. "Oh my goddess, your gorgeous, welcome to the family. Well, I guess you already are family, but oh well you know what I mean." Yeah, she's going to be a handful. Good luck Rachel. I giggled and looked at Rachel, who was looking back at me with the all-knowing thanks a lot look.

"Please everyone call me Ad, it is nice to meet you, especially since I only found out about you, oh three hours ago." Everyone giggled. "Okay everyone. Let's sit and talk. I have made some munchies over here on the table and I believe Joseph has put together some drinks." Renee was in full host mode. Everyone found a seat in the kitchen. Oliver and Rachel were across from me and Barrett at the table. "Firstly, I want to say how sorry I am for everything that you have gone through since you were younger. I didn't want to have you not knowing of us but after convincing from dad I knew it was safest for you. I also want to apologize about Sebastian. You have been through so much already and I couldn't understand why the Moon Goddess had made you endure more. I would give anything to be able to go back and save my mother and your parents." Oliver was fighting the tears now. "I appreciate that, Uncle, and I know you would, as would I." His eyes met mine. "I had fought daily since then and, since knowing of who your wolf is to make sure our pack is strong and ready. Rachel has continued that as well. She and David know how important it is as it is our history." David walked near the table now. "It had been taught in the school on our pack and our members train 5 days a week from the time they are 10. We are prepared for anything and we will keep you safe." He looked determined. "Thank you," I smiled at him,"I do have some questions though, about your pack and also about myself." I then had about 15 pairs of eyes on me, most of them looked shocked. "What?" I was looking around Barrett was rubbing my back now "Your eyes are glowing purple again."
