Chapter Two When the knock came at her office door a week later, Anneke steeled herself. This was going to be a tough session. Not that any session was ever easy—quite the opposite, in fact—but usually when she told a person what was wrong with them, and then recommended some next steps, they accepted what she said without question. Even the ones in denial. But she had a feeling that things weren’t going to go that smoothly with Caleb Kitt. “Come in!” she called, as she got up from her desk and went over to the sideboard to pour two glasses of water. It was presumptuous—perhaps today he’d want tea or coffee—but she wanted to get stuck in to talking to him as soon as possible, not waste time making hot drinks.
