Gone? How could Courtney just leave? Seth sat on the front porch steps, holding the quickly scrawled letter, stunned.
He read the letter for at least the tenth time, attempting to make sense of it. Resting his head on his hands and closing his eyes, he ran through the events of the last few days. What had happened to make her leave? Could he have done something differently to keep her from going? Had he pushed her too hard into meeting his family? Had they scared her off? Why hadn't he seen this coming? Where had she gone? How did he always manage to screw up his romantic relationships? Why hadn't he been more open with her about his feelings? Was he just completely unlovable?
