14 "Wait. He's not dead?" Macy had just floored me with the news that my stepfather had survived my attack. "Well, he might be by now," Macy admitted. "It's not like we keep tabs on him. I haven't seen him since you left. I was completely flabbergasted––so much so that my mouth was literally hanging open. I brought my lower lip up to close it, but it dropped back down as if it had a mind of its own. I probably looked like a fish out of water, but my mind was whirling too furiously to control it.
