Fated Chances
|Damien's POV|
—
“You're going to need someone by your side for me to trust you with the position as CEO of my company.
That's why I need you to get married to the daughter of Stone Creek chains corp.”
My ruthless father said to me on the memorial of my late mother.
The conditions for taking my place as CEO of primesteel limit to ed.
I got engaged to Isabella the daughter of the CEO of stone creek chains corp and was set to get married to her in six months time to get my place as the CEO.
I had worked my way to the top as the manager of several of our companies, unlike my stepbrother.
And I knew so well, this was just a trap for me to lose the company to him.
I didn't love Isabella, infact I had never loved any girl in all my life, I was the stone hearted billionaire who lived in solace.
Also I was disgusted by how all the ladies that flocked around me were materialistic and worshiped me like a god.
Isabella was no different.
And that's when I got the idea of pretending to be crippled to get a bride.
One who would love me for who I was, not for the name, or for my wealth.
The condition was get married within six months, right?
It didn't have to be Isabella and I was determined to get a bride in six months.
Also Isabella wasn't the type to get stuck with a man who was going to be liability, so this was going to be a smooth plan, apart from the getting a bride.
But let's see what happens within six months.
Asides from being the son to the number one richest business man in the states.
I was a multimillionaire and I wanted to also pretend to lose all that I have.
You'd say why do I need the position of the CEO of primesteel if I have all that I ever wanted.
It was a promise I made to my late mother who had started the company in the first place with my dad as a shareholder, of course he had most of the shares.
After rising to the top business companies, he got married to my stepmother leaving my mom helpless.
In the name of getting a child which my mom couldn't give him and that's how I got an older step brother, Miguel.
A year later I was born and when I was just fifteen, my mom passed away.
But with the promise that I wouldn't let my stepmother and her son steal all that she had built all these years.
So yes, I was doing this for her.
So weeks later, I faked an accident, with the support of my personal doctor I successfully achieved being fake cripple.
The news had broke out and the whole media has gone haywire.
With the caption.
“CEOs first son, Damien Rojas loses his legs to a drastic car accident.”
I was off work and at home for months and not once did Isabella stop by.
After I resumed my position As the manager, I ensured to set things right this time.
And the first thing I was going to be doing was hiring a new personal assistant.
“My name is Lara Williams.” The blonde petite lady that stood in front of me said with confidence.
I jolted back to reality taking her resume in one hand.
“Why do you need this Job?
And please don't tell me it's your dream to be an assistant to a top business manager.”
I asked fiercely, she didn't flinch as others would.
“I need the money,” she cut-in.
I smirked, I didn't expect the honesty.
“My mom's terrible sick and I need the money to pay for her hospital bills, but I'm not saying this so you could pity me.
But apart from that I believe I'm very qualified for this Job.”
I smirked, the nerve.
“It's my dream to be an assistant.”
“I love your company.”
All the s**t I'd been hearing all money, and never did I expect to hear what she just said.
“You're hired.” I said.
She looked a bit stunned but kept her composure.
“Thank you sir.” She smiled mildly.
“We'd see how far you can bear my excesses.” I thought to myself.
Something about her confidence irked me and yup.
I was a beast when it came to testing people that didn't worshiped like others did, to see if they were pretentious or genuine.
“You start tomorrow, 7am on the dot, you may meet my secretary for guidance.”

|Lara's POV|
I got up this morning feeling a mess, hair rough, scattered plastic cups, half eaten pizza laid on the table.
Yup, I wasn't the totally organized girlie you were expecting.
I was rather the weird, extroverted type, the type that wasn't shy, a fighter and a party freak.
My phone suddenly started to ring, where the heck was it?
I lifted up the chairs following the direction of the noise.
When I finally found it, the caller ID shown brightly.
“Best bite”
Jared, my best friend as expected.
“Hey boo.” I screeched.
“How much did you drink?” He asked sounding worried.
I smirked, he knew me too well.
“Well, just a few drinks and a whole night of partying with myself.”
I burped.
“Oh, Lara, don't tell me you totally forgot the interview with primesteel limited today?”
“What, That's today?”
I could hear Jared slam his hand on his face.
I put the phone speaker on and rushed off to get ready.
“I'll be there to pick you up in ten minutes.” He added before ending the call.
Jared and I were the complete opposite, well asides from the obvious fact that's he's a guy and I'm a girl, hehe.
He was totally organized, timekeeper, introverted and somewhat shy type of guy.
We had met during our time back in college, I was always getting into trouble and he was always saving me.
Well, he was the big brother I never had.
Always watching over me and making sure I was doing the right thing and at the right time.
That morning he dropped me off at primesteel limited.
“Are you sure I can do this?” I asked suddenly having cold feet.
“Lara, look at me,” he said.
“Remember why you're here and be sure to get the Job.
Your mom is sick and needs immediate care and also this company is the reason your mom is in the sick state she is right now.
You're here to find out what transpired and get back all they stole.”
I sighed.
“Asides from my qualifications, I don't have the requirements for this”
“You can do this, remember the three C’s, composure, confidence and charm.”
I nodded, smiling brightly.
I threw him into a friendly hug before setting out of the car towards the building.
“I can do this, I can.’ I muttered to myself.
So after I answered stupidly to the question Mr Damien asked me and heard that I had gotten the Job.
Believe me my heart almost jumped out of my chest.
I composed myself as usual, something about getting this job didn't sit right.
The way he said I had gotten the Job was almost like a dare to see how long I could stay confident.
