Alec let the cold water of the shower wash over him. This was killing him. She was killing him. The way he felt complete, whole, within her presence was almost too much. It was as if the past fourteen years had never happened, as though they had never been apart. Gods, he loved her. He loved her so much his chest ached. He hadn’t expected her to kiss him, and certainly hadn’t meant to kiss her back. It had taken every ounce of his resolve not to lift her in his arms and carry her to the bed, to show her the true depth of his love, and bury himself inside her.
