Alec’s hands shook as he locked the door behind him, leaving her wounded, barely conscious just as he had been ordered to do. His feet carried him away, stilling the words he had wanted to scream. His eyes were dry, f*******n from showing remorse, f*******n from showing the regret that burned his soul. Internally, he had screamed and cried, fought with every ounce of strength he had. But it had not been enough. He cursed his hand as it brought the whip down on her time and time again. The look in her eyes had been his destruction, she’d believed every word her father had said. She thought everything they had shared was just part of his plan to destroy her. And he had certainly done that. He had seen it all too clearly.
