The woman’s voice grew sharper. “You don’t understand. If she doesn’t go, he’ll die. The doctors can’t stop whatever’s happening to him. His body is rejecting something. She’s the only one who can stabilize him.”
My blood ran cold. What was she saying? Stabilize him? What did that even mean?
