Chapter 1
At eighteen, Shawna had just received her acceptance letter from Halstead University. Her future was wide open, her life bright with promise.
Then, on her way home, she collided head-on with an electric tricycle.
She closed her eyes.
Opened them.
And somehow, she had become 25-year-old Shawna.
The good news: at 25, Shawna was married to the nation's wealthiest man—with a net worth north of $100 billion.
The bad news: that billionaire wanted a divorce from her.

Thick smoke billowed through the room. Everything was a mess.
Shawna had been staring at the three- or four-year-old boy in front of her for a full ten minutes.
Setting down the fire extinguisher, she forced out another smile and asked, "Sweetie, what did you just call me?"
The little boy's gaze grew even stranger.
He looked at Shawna with a cold, detached expression no child his age should have had.
"Mom, were you trying to burn me alive today? I haven't done anything to make you angry lately..."
A sudden clap of thunder cracked outside the window.
Shawna instinctively turned her head and caught sight of herself in the reflection of the floor-to-ceiling window.
A silk nightgown. Long, wavy curls. A beautiful face smeared with gray-black ash.
It was her.
But it wasn't the 18-year-old her.
A sharp pain ripped through her skull.
Shawna collapsed straight to the floor.

In an endless haze of gray, a mechanical voice droned on and on beside her ear.
"Ms. Chase, we regret to inform you that your body was occupied for seven years by Intruder 93838, an illegal transmigrator.
"The Temporal Authority has lawfully apprehended Intruder 93838. Your body is now officially being returned to you.
"Additionally, in accordance with the Victim Relief Protocol, I will now provide you with an explanation.
"You are living inside the world of a novel titled Spoiled to the Bone: The CEO's Beloved. Your son, Liam Quinn, is the male lead of this world.
"In the original timeline, Liam was meant to grow into a gifted young man with a sound mind and strong moral values.
"However, due to the malicious abuse inflicted by Intruder 93838, Liam's growth trajectory has been altered. According to system calculations, the trauma from his childhood will turn him into a violent, cold-blooded sociopath.
"It is recommended that, after your return, you guide him back onto the right path.
"Finally, to prevent disruption to the order of this world, you are forbidden from telling anyone about the transmigration incident.
"Thank you for your understanding. Goodbye."
The voice disappeared.
*****
Shawna opened her eyes.
Closed them.
Then opened them again.
She sat up, looked around the unfamiliar, lavish bedroom, and promptly fell back onto the bed with a heavy thud.
A thousand words jammed in her chest, only to turn into one furious, teeth-gritted thought.
'What the hell!'
One second ago, she had just gotten her acceptance letter from Halstead University and was on her way home to share the good news. Then an electric tricycle fleeing city enforcement officers had slammed right into her.
When she woke up again, she had gone from 18 to 25.
And during those seven missing years, some illegal transmigrator had taken over her body, gotten married, and even... had a son?
The thought made Shawna feel as if a boulder had been dropped onto her chest, so heavy it made her scalp go numb.
She had no idea how long she lay there before she finally let out a long, heavy sigh and dragged herself up.
As the saying went, when it rained, it poured.
If she couldn't fight life, she might as well just go with the flow.
Shawna had only just finished talking herself into acceptance when she opened the door and locked eyes with the tiny little boy standing outside.
They stared at each other.
Two strikingly similar faces watched each other with equal wariness.
Then a loud growl broke the stalemate.
It came from Liam's stomach.
The child still wore that blank, emotionless expression, but Shawna's heart softened at once.
"I'm kind of hungry," Liam said. "Can you make something?"
She went into the kitchen.
After fumbling around for a while, she came out with a bowl of slightly burnt scrambled eggs.
She set it down in front of the boy.
Shawna felt a little embarrassed. "Just make do for now. I'm not exactly great at cooking."
Liam gave her another strange look.
He still said nothing, only lowered his head and ate in silence.
Shawna studied him as he ate.
According to that system claiming to be from the Temporal Authority, even without the illegal transmigrator, this child still would have been born to her. It just would have happened several years later.
After he finished eating, Liam hopped down from the chair and turned to leave.
That was when Shawna noticed the dark purple bruises mottling his legs.
Startled, she caught his arm. "What happened to you?"
Liam's tiny brows furrowed. His childish voice carried a sarcasm far too mature for his age.
"You forgot? You beat me yourself. To make Dad come home."
Shawna froze.
She had already learned from the system that the transmigrator had abused Liam, but only now, seeing those shocking bruises with her own eyes, did the truth feel real.
Before she could recover, Liam glanced behind her.
Coldly, he said, "Just as you wanted, Dad is back."
Shawna turned around.
And met Zane Quinn's icy gaze head-on.
