"Web of Deceit"

Kelita walked back and forth in the dimly lit room, her mind kept racing. Phoenix, Kadmiel’s ever loyal and trusted subordinate, was seated at a nearby table, a small tablet glowing in her hands as she scrolled through pages of data. The room was quiet except for the faint tapping of her fingers on the screen. They had been given the task of finding everything they could about Blake, the notorious crime boss, and Young Master Wilson, the arrogant man who had threatened Kadmiel and Leah’s family. Phoenix stopped scrolling abruptly. “Yes! Finally, I got something,” she said, her voice calm but with a hint of excitement. Kelita looked at her, her eyes focused with graet interest.“Girl, what did you find?” Kelita asked, moving closer to look at the tablet on Phoenix’s hand. “Blake is nothing more than a thug,” Phoenix said, her voice filled with disgust. “He runs a few illegal businesses, but his most significant operation is human trafficking. He has been selling people in underground auctions, and guess what? The same auction house where you were nearly sold, Kelita, he was the mastermind behind it.” Kelita’s eyes flared with anger as she got flashbacks of that painful moment. “What the f**k?” she hissed. “Animals in human skin this days, I am disgusted” Phoenix nodded, scrolling further. “And then there is Young Master Wilson. He is connected to the Vanguard Group, but it is not just any company. It is one of the largest corporations in the region, but guess who owns it?” “Who?” Kelita asked, leaning closer. Phoenix smiled lightly. “It is under the name of Kadmiel’s old business partner, Tyrone Parker. Tyrone is one of Kadmiel’s most loyal allies. Wilson and his father probably have no idea who they are messing with.” Kelita let out a small victorious laugh. “This is going to be quite interesting.” Phoenix closed the tablet and looked up at her. “I will report this to Kadmiel immediately. He will want to handle this personally.” Across town, Kadmiel sat in his office, his hands folded as he stared vaguely out the window. The sun was beginning to set, casting a warm orange glow over the beautiful city. The tension from the previous day was still fresh in his mind. Leah’s family was in danger, but more than that, Leah herself was being threatened by Wilson and his father. Just as Kadmiel’s thoughts wandered back to Leah, the door to his office opened, and Phoenix stepped inside. “Sir,” Phoenix said, her voice sharp and professional. “I have the information you requested.” Kadmiel turned to face her, his expression was unreadable. “Phoenix, what have you found?” “Blake is nothing but a thug, as we suspected. His main operation is human trafficking, and he is the one behind the auction house where Kelita was almost sold. He is quite powerful, but not untouchable,” Phoenix began. “And Wilson?” Kadmiel asked, his voice calm. Phoenix smirked. “Young Master Wilson is affiliated to the Vanguard Group, which, as you know, is under Tyrone Parker’s management. Tyrone is still one of your most loyal subordinates. Kadmiel’s eyes lit up with understanding and a mild smile played across his face. “Of course. Wilson has no idea who he is dealing with. ”Phoenix nodded. “I have arranged for you to meet with Tyrone. He is expecting you at the Vanguard Group headquarters. I have also ensured that Wilson and his father will be present.” Kadmiel stood still, his mind suddenly and finally at ease. “Good job Phoenix. I will handle this personally. It is high time I taught them a lesson they would never forget.” Meanwhile, at the Vanguard Group headquarters, Young Master Wilson was pacing the floor of his father’s office, his face red with frustration, rage and embarrassment. His father, Mr. Harold Wilson, was seated behind a massive desk, listening to his son’s complaints with growing irritation. “I can’t believe that shameless man dared to touch me!” Young Master Wilson fumed. “He humiliated me in front of the entire family and my guards, everyone was there! I demand that we take action, dad!” Harold sighed, stroking his beard.“Calm down, son. We will deal with it. But you need to be more careful, please. We can’t afford to make enemies with just anyone.” “I do not care, dad!” Wilson shouted. “Leah is supposed to be mine! And that nincompoop dared to stand in between us. I will not and can"t let this go.” Harold’s face darkened. “Leah’s family will pay for this. I will make sure of it, don"t you worry, son.” Reaching for his phone, Harold dialed Leah’s mother, his expression cold and calm. The phone rang a few times before Leah’s mother’s shaky voice answered on the other end. “Mr. Wilson…sir….” she began nervously. “Enough, woman!” Harold cut her off. “Your daughter’s insolence and stubbornness has gone way too far. She will come to my son tonight, or you and your entire family will regret it. Do you understand?” Leah’s mother’s heart pounded fast in her chest. She had always been afraid of this moment, and she tried to avoid it as much as she could, but unfortunately it found it"s way to catch up with her. “Please, Mr. Wilson… Leah… she does not want to marry your son…” “Does she think she has a choice? Or does she think it is the choice of any one of you? Certainly not, she has no choice.” Harold snarled. “Unless you want to find yourself out on the streets with absolutely nothing. Your family’s debt is enough to crush you. Do not make this harder than it has to be.” Leah’s mother felt tears building up in her eyes. She had always wanted what was best for her daughter, but this… this was a nightmare. “I will make sure I talk to her,” she whispered, her voice breaking. “You have until tonight, woman” Harold said, his voice cold and final before hanging up. Leah sat in her room, staring at the wall, her mind racing. The events of the day had left her exhausted and emotionally drained. She did not know how much more she could take. The pressure from her family to marry Wilson, the threats, the fear of what might happen to them all. It was just too much. Her door creaked open, and her mother entered, her face pale and strained. “Leah…” her mother began softly. Leah turned to face her, knowing what was coming. “What did he say?”Her mother squeezed her hands nervously. “Mr. Wilson… he called. He says… he says you have to go to his son tonight. If you do not… we will lose everything.” Leah’s heart sank. She had known this moment was coming, but hearing the words still made her feel like the walls were closing in around her. “I will not do it mum,” she said firmly. “I will not marry him, it goes against every thing I believe in.” “Leah, please,” her mother begged, tears in her eyes. “We have no choice. If you do not do this… we will be ruined. You have to think about your brothers, your father… our family. This is the only way.” Leah shook her head, her own tears threatening to fall. “I am not a bargaining chip. I am not going to give myself to someone like him.” Her younger brother, Billy, suddenly appeared in the doorway. He had been listening to the conversation, and his face was set with determination. “I will fix this,” Billy said, stepping into the room. “This is all my fault. I am the one who borrowed the money, and I will deal with the consequences. I will not let you guys suffer for my mistakes anymore.” Leah stared at her brother, her heart aching. “Billy, no. This is not your fault.” Billy shook his head. “It is. And I am going to take responsibility, I will try to make everything right. I will go to them. I will explain everything. I have an idea, it has to work.” Their mother sobbed quietly, overwhelmed by the hopelessness of their situation. Back at Vanguard Group, Harold Wilson and his son were in their office when a knock came at the door. A beautiful young lady who happened to be the secretary entered, bowing slightly. “Mr. Wilson, Young Master Wilson, There is someone you need to meet. He is a very important guest,” the secretary announced. Harold and his son exchanged glances, curiosity filled the room. “An important guest?” Harold repeated, intrigued. “Who is it?”The secretary smiled politely. “You will find out soon enough. But I can assure you, this meeting could be very beneficial for both of you.” Young Master Wilson’s eyes lit up. “This is it, Father. This could be our chance.” Harold nodded, a greedy smile forming on his lips. “Yes… we have been waiting for an opportunity like this.” They had no idea what was about to unfold, and the reality of who their guest was would soon shatter their carefully crafted world.
