Chloe's POV My alarm woke me up at 7am sharp, I stretched and rolled over the bed groaning softly, before standing up and dragging my lazy self to the bathroom to freshen up and prepare for college. I took a warm shower which helped me clear my head, got dressed in a simple knee length gown and let my hair down. I arranged my books into my bag and went down to meet my parents "good morning dad" I leaned and pecked him on his cheeks... "good morning my precious daughter, how was your night? ", "it was fine dad" i replied, I turned around to see my mom coming out of the kitchen smiling at me and I ran to give her a hug and a peck. "good morning mom", "good morning my baby girl, she replied with a small laugh" I made scrambled eggs and plantain for you" my mom said smiling. My face immediately lit up, and I ran straight to the dining and started eating eagerly, I could hear my parents chuckling from behind. "eat slowly so you don't choke" my mom said and I smiled at her, "okay mom" I replied After I was done eating I grabbed my bag and waved my parents goodbye and left for school "stay safe" said my dad and I nodded smiling at them my family has to be one of the perfect average family I know, my mum and my dad run a bakery together, they always made sure my needs are met and they're always available to cheer me up when I'm down, I love my parents so much and I love my small happy family. Elliot's POV "come in" I said, my voice calm but firm, when I heard a knock on the door. My secretary Elsa walked in with my morning coffee. "good morning sir" "morning" I replied shortly not raising my head up from the documents I was signing and she placed the coffee on my desk. "you have a business meeting with golden insurance company by 10:am sir" she continued "then you have a lunch meeting with your mom by 1:pm, then a birthday invitation from the Antonio's, their family's patriarch is celebrating his 80th birthday which will take place by 7pm, that's all for the day sir". "cancel the the birthday party" I said flatly She hesitated slightly "but sir the-" "I said cancel it" "yes sir" she nodded quickly and turned to leave the office, shutting the door quietly. Silence filled the room again, I leaned back on my chair, staring out through the large glass window, watching cars and people moving. Restless Pointless I have power, money and control but I still felt empty. "hey man" my childhood friend Liam entered my office and sat down, I didn't even bother to acknowledge him I just kept on staring into space "you're such a workaholic man, you don't even have time to hangout with me or any of our squad, always in the office" he said "and how does that affect you in any way?" I asked him... "it does affect our bond, c'mon man, you need to cool off by hanging out with us afterall you need to find a woman soon, you're getting old you're no longer young" he said smiling I raised my head and shot him a hard glare and he chuckled "if you have nothing important to say then leave my office", "are you chasing me out?, hahaha" he laughed "I don't know why you always react whenever anything about a woman is said, you know you cannot continue having flings everytime, you have to settle down and do something real" he said and I sighed. "you and I know that most of these ladies are just after what you can offer them, they don't really care about something real, and that alone disgust me" "but there are still good ladies out there trust me, you just haven't tried yet" he said and I just ignored him. "I have a meeting now, goodbye" I stood up and left "consider what I just said man" he said behind me. Chloe's POV I'm done with my first lecture and I'm waiting for the second one, I and my friend scarlet decided to take a walk before the second lecturer comes in. so we went to the school cafeteria to have some snacks, we discussed about school, exams and random things "have you started preparing for exams?" scarlet asked "yes I'm doing my best, what about you? "I asked "honestly it has not been easy for me, balancing school life and my part time job, you know how hard it can be", she said. " yes I understand but don't worry and don't stress too much, just do what you can and whenever we're free in school we'll discuss it together" I said to her. "thank you so much Chloe, for your love and care" "c,mon scarlet what are friends for, if we can't help each other", I said to her, earning me a smile from her. we finished eating and I paid the bills before leaving for class. After the second lecture which was the last for the day, scarlet and I walked to the school gate where we parted ways. "goodbye Chloe" "goodbye scarlet" we hugged each other. As I was about to cross the road to hail a taxi my phone rang, it was my dad calling, so I picked it up smiling. immediately I picked it I heard commotion in the background and my smile vanished, I heard a man from the background telling someone to call an ambulance, I started panicking.
