CHAPTER 1
CHAPTER ONE: THE WOLF SEVERERS (1).
“Boss, do we have to leave now?”
A man, who was a few feet ahead of the four men and women exiting a lively nightclub, turned around with a cigarette in his mouth, He glared at them with a pair of dull.
There was a reaction as the eyes of the four men and women turned a dull blue. They froze up at the man's abnormal growl. They took a few steps backward before they bowed their heads towards him in submission.
The man smiled with satisfaction when he saw this, but it didn’t last as he picked up something in the wind.
The four betas noticed this. “Alpha, what’s wrong?”
"We need to go, now?" The rogue alpha spits out his cigarette before leading the run into the forest. He did not expect to suddenly find a pair of bright crimson eyes flying towards him from above. He managed to narrowly avoid the impact. Unfortunately for two of his betas though, they were caught by the throat.
"The actual f**k?!" The rogue alpha turned around to find the sudden attack had come from a tall and muscular masked man clad in a tight leather outfit. The only parts of him visible were his glowing crimson eyes, signifying he was of the alpha class. "Who the f**k are you?”
The attacker looked up to reveal an insignia on his mask. He remained silent as his hands held down the two betas beneath him.
The male beta standing was visibly tensed. “Alpha, that is a Lycan-Chaser. We’re being hunted!”
The rogue alpha’s glowing eyes held ferocity. “So someone put a bounty on my pack’s head.”
"The bounty is on your head alone."
The sudden soft voice had the three standing rogue werewolves turning backward to find a masked woman. Strapped to her back was a quiver filled with arrows and a bow in her hand.
“Who are you?”
The masked woman turned her head. “The Wolf Severers?”
It was clear the rogue werewolves knew who the wolf severers were. They are currently the fastest-rising werewolf hunters in Clamyone Woods.
The masked woman could see the distress in their faces. “Let me make this clear. Our client only demanded we deal with your alpha here. So as long as you willingly relinquish yourself from him, you’re free to leave.”
“Really?” The female beta standing asked with hope in her voice. She ignored the warning glare the alpha gave her.
The masked woman simply turned to the masked man and nodded at him. It was then the large man let his two victims go. Everyone watched as these two betas scurried away. Once it was clear the masked woman was being honest with her offer, the other two betas suddenly walked away from their alpha’s side.
“Bastards! You wouldn’t dare!”
The masked woman simply ignored this rogue alpha, watching the four betas stand in a straight line. “Don’t waste my time. This offer expires very soon.”
The four betas wasted no time as they bent forward and their bones began to crack. In a few seconds, they each shifted into a five-foot-tall wolf with a robust build. They then collectively turned their head to the sky and they let out varied tunes that weaved into a melody. The melody carried a sense of sadness and anger in it. Once they were done, all four wolves turned their gaze to the masked woman. They had officially relinquished themselves from the rogue alpha's leadership.
The masked woman nodded her head. “You may leave.”
The four wolves didn’t need to be told twice as they dashed away in different directions. Two of them glanced back to make sure the masked hunters weren’t running after them. Their pack was now disbanded.
"Traitors! I'll kill you all!" The rogue alpha had momentarily lost his sanity to his anger and he shifted into a six-foot wolf before he dashed after one of the betas that had deserted him.
The rogue wolf didn’t get far though when a silver arrow came from the side and plunged through one of his hind legs and into the other. A loud whine escaped the wolf’s snout as it fell to the ground. The shot left a hole in both legs, but the wounds rapidly began healing. The wolf turned a deep growl to the masked woman whose pose with her bow revealed she had shot that arrow.
The masked woman looked unperturbed at the wolf's threat as she lazily put away her bow and she retrieved a phone. She began scrolling the content on the screen. "Your name is Jacob Day. Less than a year ago, you forcefully mated with a prestigious omega from another pack. Then you proceeded to flee in order to avoid facing any consequences." She stopped a few feet away from the growling wolf. "Well, the client has paid heavily for your head to be delivered, and tonight is the day of retribution." She put the phone away before pulling out a dagger from one of the sheaths attached to her hip.
Unwilling to die this way, the wolf secretly shook its leg to ensure the wound had almost healed. Before the masked woman could completely unsheathe the dagger, it suddenly lunged with its large claws, ready to cut down this woman when a brutal force from the side sent the rogue wolf flying until its back smashed against a tree trunk. The sickening crunch that came from the impact showed the wolf had sustained yet another injury. It took a few breaths before raising its head to find that neither the masked man nor woman had left their spot. It struggled to get back on its feet, wondering what had struck him when a quadruped figure slowly appeared in a space that was definitely empty just a second ago.
Once the form had become completely visible, it became clear this was a young jaguar about its size. On its back is a teenage boy sweating profusely as he dropped his raised arms. He was dark-skinned with sharp green eyes and full afro hair on his head.
There were too many unknown factors here. Fear had the wolf about to run in the other direction only to find the two masked hunters blocking his way. The masked man then bent forward before shifting into his wolf form, looking scarier than the rogue alpha.
With its tail tucked between its legs and ears lowered, the rogue wolf whimpered as it took a few steps backward before its back made contact with the tree it had smashed into.
At this point, it knew it was cornered.
The wolf then shifted back into a human. Jacob couldn’t help but give an airy laugh as he sat helplessly on the ground. “Can I at least know the names of my killers?”
