Finding The Culprit
Sorin’s POV
"Hope!! I want every pack leader, especially the rogue leaders, here before sunrise!" Sorin roared, his alpha voice slicing through the thick tension as he stormed into the pack house.
The air grew heavy, almost suffocating, as every wolf in the Black Moon Pack house dropped to their knees, heads bowed in submission. It had been years since their alpha had unleashed his voice like this, and they all knew what it meant.
Dangerous. Destroy.
No one touches what’s mine and walks away. No one.
Hope was already moving before anyone else could react. His speed, unmatched even among the fastest wolves, carried him to the source of the commotion in an instant. His sharp eyes locked onto Sorin's, and his heart sank.
The look in Sorin's eyes—feral, burning, and unrelenting—sent a shiver down Hope's spine. He halted mid-step, frozen by the sheer intensity of it. This look. How could he ever forget this look?
It was the same look Sorin had worn when he was twelve, the first time his alpha blood had truly awakened. The first time his alpha recognised his mate's feelings. That same fire, that same promise of destruction. Back then, it terrified everyone who witnessed it.
And now it’s back. But worse. Darker.
Hope's voice was steady, but there was a hint of unease as he called out, "Sorin! What happened? Why are you calling the rogue leaders? Did someone attack?"
Sorin’s eyes snapped to his brother, glowing with an otherworldly light that made even Hope hesitate.
No questions. Just obedience.
"No questions, hyung," Sorin growled, his voice low and dangerous. "Just do as I said."
Hope clenched his fists, his mind racing. What could have happened? Sorin had gone out to escort Jay, the little pup, back to his parents. That should have been a simple task. Then why?
"Sorin, listen..." Hope tried again, but Sorin's glare silenced him instantly.
Hope took a step back, his thoughts spinning. This rage… this isn't just about a rogue crossing the line. Something else happened. Something worse.
A voice broke through Hope’s mind via the mind link. It was Sam, hesitant but urgent.
"Alpha… I think he found his mate."
Hope's breath hitched. His eyes widened. Mate? Sorin found his mate?
"Are you sure?" he asked sharply through the link.
"Almost yes," Sam confirmed. "But… he's furious. This isn't the reaction we expected."
A mate should’ve meant joy. Strength. Completion. But Sorin’s energy screamed fury.
"Who is it?" Hope demanded. "And why is he like this? I want to know everything."
"I… I don't know exactly, but I have my assumption," Sam admitted. "But something's wrong. His aura… it's darker than I've ever felt. I think… someone tried to harm his mate."
Hope’s stomach churned.
Sorin’s fists shook at his sides, the nails piercing into his palms.
"Sorin," Hope tried again, softer this time. "Is this about your mate? Did someone...."
"Don't," Sorin cut him off, his voice trembling with barely restrained fury. His fists were clenched so tightly that blood dripped to the floor. Don’t say it. Don’t give it words. I’ll break.
"Don't ask me anything, brother. I won't be able to control it anymore. Just do what I said."
"But Sorin—"
"I said no questions!" Sorin's roar shook the walls. The force of his aura pushed down on Hope like a crashing wave.
They’ll all pay. Every last one who dared touch him. My mate… mine.
His voice thundered through the mind link to every leader present.
“Now the world will see what happens when someone touches what belongs to Sorin Aldric.”
Without another word, Sorin stormed toward his room, every step calculated and seething. Shoulders tense. Power radiating from his body like heat from a furnace.
Hope stood frozen. What could he say? His brother was no longer just angry—he was a god preparing for war.
"Alpha," Sam’s voice echoed again. "What do we do now? He's too angry to listen to anyone."
Hope exhaled slowly, then replied with heavy resolve.
"We do what he said. Gather the leaders. Every single one of them. No one dares defy him tonight. And if someone does… drag them here."
"And after that?" Sam asked.
Hope stared down the corridor. “After that… we pray. Because if his mate is hurt, there won’t be a force in this world that can stop him.”
---
Soon, the enormous meeting hall of the Black Moon Pack was packed with tension. Every pack leader, both allies and rogues, stood in uneasy silence.
They know why they’re here. They feel it. The calm before the m******e.
Sorin’s command had echoed like a death sentence. Even the most stubborn rogues had come, some willingly, others dragged.
The air was thick with the scent of fear.
"Why are we here?" one rogue muttered.
"Shut the f**k up," another hissed. "You want to get yourself killed? He's already pissed."
Hope stood near the grand doors, his gaze like a blade. They have no idea how close they are to death.
The doors creaked open.
Sorin entered.
And the room stopped breathing.
His aura slammed into the room like a tidal wave. Eyes dropped. Backs stiffened. Wolves instinctively bowed.
Hope stepped forward. “You've all been summoned by the True Blood Alpha. You will listen, and you will answer truthfully. Try to deceive or defy him, and you won’t be seeing today’s sunrise.”
Sorin walked to the center, eyes scanning the room.
Look at them. Trembling cowards. You dared to touch him, and now you stand before me like sheep.
"I'll make this simple,” Sorin said, his tone deceptively calm. "My mate was hurt. Someone dared to lay their hands on what belonged to me. I want to know who was behind it."
Shock rippled through the crowd.
The rogue leaders had not expected this.
One stepped forward. “Alpha… we didn’t know you’d found your mate. None of us would—"
"I don't care!" Sorin snapped.
Excuses. I’ll rip them apart one by one if I must.
"I don’t care about your excuses. I care about finding out who had the audacity to cross me."
His tone turned razor sharp. "If any of you had a hand in this… speak now. Because if I find out later—there will be no mercy."
Silence.
"SAM!" Sorin barked.
Sam stepped forward. “Yes, Alpha.”
"Bring him in."
The doors opened.
Two alphas dragged in a bloodied rogue. Fear bled from him.
"This,” Sorin growled, “is one of the wolves who attacked my mate."
Gasps. Whispers.
The rogue trembled. "P-please… I didn’t know…”
"Who sent you? Who's behind the attack!" Sorin demanded.
No answer.
Sorin crouched, face inches from the rogue’s. His voice was cold steel.
"Do you think I’m in the mood for games?"
The rogue broke. "A group of rogues. Paid us. Said they wanted revenge… wanted to hurt the alpha by taking what was most precious."
Sorin’s jaw clenched.
He cried. I felt it. The terror. The pain. The betrayal.
"Where are they right now."
"I-I don’t know!"
Sorin’s hand shot out, gripping his throat. “You’re useless to me.”
"Alpha," Hope interjected, "We can use him. He might know more."
Sorin’s grip tightened… then released.
The rogue collapsed.
“I’ll ask you one last time,” Sorin said, voice low. “If you know anything, speak. Because if I find out later that you lied… your entire pack will vanish from history.”
Silence.
"You’ve seen what happens when someone crosses me. Now imagine what I’ll do to those who harmed my mate."
The message was clear.
No one moved. No one dared.
Hope stepped forward. “You heard him. Any information, now. This wasn’t desperation… it was calculated. Someone’s pulling their strings.”
"I'll find them," Sorin muttered. "And when I do…"
The rogue on the floor suddenly gasped, trembling. “They’ll kill me… if I say more…”
Sorin’s voice was like winter wind. "And what do you think I’ll do if you stay silent?"
“There’s… a base… Shadow Pines. Eastern border. That’s where they are…”
Sorin’s mind sharpened. Shadow Pines… dangerous terrain. Rogue-controlled.
Sam linked quickly. “It’s heavily guarded, Alpha. If they’re there, they’re ready.”
Good, Sorin thought. Then let them be ready. Let them watch me tear through them like a storm.
Out loud, he turned to Hope. “Prepare everything. We leave now.”
Hope nodded. Orders rang through the pack link. The meeting hall stirred as leaders stepped back, giving way.
"You’re dismissed," Sorin told them. "But remember—if I find out you were involved, I will erase you.”
They scattered.
Hope approached as the room emptied. "Sorin. Are you sure? I can lead. You don’t need—"
Sorin cut him off, eyes burning with purpose.
"They hurt what’s mine, brother. I’ll tear that place apart with my bare hands."
Hope nodded slowly. "Then let’s make sure no one escapes."
Sorin didn't answer.
His mate was hurt there. That forest will burn.
And nothing, not rogues, not traps, not death would stop Sorin Aldric tonight.
