“With all due respect, I’m a sheriff. I can assure you there’s nothing under my baby in her car seat.” I run my hand through my hair. “I can take her out. I’m sure she’ll stay asleep.” Allie moves toward the car seat, but I put my arm out to stop her. This is between this TSA supervisor and me now. “It’s protocol. All these things have to be wanded,” he says, staring at me through his wire glasses. She’s teething and she’s finally asleep. I want to get her on that plane and have her stay asleep if at all possible so I can sleep. You get me? Are you a father?” H
