INKA I awoke slowly on Monday morning, the big bed feeling far too big without Kayde's warm, solid body beside me. For a moment, I just lay there, blinking away the last traces of sleep, a quiet resonance still buzzing beneath my skin from the night before. I instinctively reached for the cool space next to me, where I found a folded note in Kayde's bold, masculine handwriting on his pillow. The note read: Good morning, Little Priestess. I had to handle some club business early this morning. Have a good day. Text me if you need anything, Kayde. I traced my fingers over his name, a strange mix of warmth and emptiness filling my chest at the prospect of being alone in this big house with no purpose. For the first time since signing the contract, the reality of my new life became clear.
