Behind The Crying and The Destruction

Leona patted her own thigh as she chuckled. "Karma is real, right? You rejected him because of his plaid shirt, now you're waking up in the same bed." Tessa still stared with a puzzled expression. "So you... just ran away?" Victoria nodded. "While he was still asleep, I grabbed my things and ran. I really couldn't bear to face him." Leona laughed again. "Wow, this is even crazier than a soap opera!" Tessa finally took a long breath. "Okay, you've been through a lot in less than 24 hours. Heartbreak, hangovers, and sleeping with a college senior you rejected." Victoria just nodded slowly. Leona stood up again, this time with determination. "Okay, then, we still have one problem to solve first. And that is to destroy Evan!" Tessa quickly pulled Leona's hand away. "Leona, control yourself!" Victoria just chuckled. Although her heart was still heavy, she was grateful to have two friends who cared so much about her. *** After she had calmed down a bit, Victoria decided to go out alone. She needed some fresh air to calm her heart. She walked around downtown, went into a few stores, and even bought a few things that weren't really important — just because she felt the need to buy something. Then, Victoria realized that the sky hadn't fallen and everything on Earth was still there. The world was still the same as it had been yesterday. And the only thing that had changed was her. As she browsed the shoes in the boutique, a saleswoman approached her with a professional smile. "Looking for something in particular, ma'am?" Victoria just smiled. "No, just browsing." She ended up buying a pair of high heels she didn't need. But at least swiping a credit card to get points took her mind off the chaos of her life. After walking around for a few hours, she finally sat in a cafe and stared out the window. Her heart was still restless. She felt disappointed and frustrated. Evan's affair still stabbed her like a thorn that couldn't be removed. And the incident with Felix? It was still too absurd to digest. Victoria took a long breath. "Will I ever get over this?" She didn't know the answer. Then, time just seemed to pass. It was already dark, and Victoria walked alone among the shops, unaware of the people passing by. Suddenly, flashbacks of Evan's betrayal came to her mind just because she heard her and Evan's favorite music playing in one of the cafes. Victoria's eyes lit up, and tears welled without her realizing it. Then, the memories with Evan kept playing in her head. It was enough to destroy her feelings again. "Bastard," she whispered before finally collapsing into a heap as her legs suddenly weakened. She cried out in that place, regardless of the strange looks people gave her. After staying there for a while, Victoria struggled to get up and got into the car between the taxis. Sobbing, she gave the driver the address of her home, then burst into tears while covering her own face. But the person in the car was not the driver. The car she was in wasn't even a taxi. It was Felix and his car. Felix was looking at Victoria in confusion. But before he could digest what had happened to her, the taxi behind him honked, indicating that he needed to start the car immediately. Inevitably, Felix sped off through the streets of New York, Victoria's sobs accompanying him. To cope with the awkward situation, Felix turned on music to make Victoria's crying less audible, but the sobs clashed. Meanwhile, Victoria was utterly unaware of who was with her, preferring to look out the car window. Soon, they arrived at Victoria's house. "We've arrived," Felix said. With tears in her eyes, Victoria opened her purse and handed Felix one of her cards without looking at him. Confused, Felix took the card, looked at it, and returned it to her. After that, Victoria quickly exited the car and entered the house. She entered the kitchen, grabbed some beer cans, and drank them. Not knowing how many cans of beer she had drunk by now, her speech began to ramble. "God never gives suffering beyond human capacity. Isn't that amazing? I must be considered an amazing b***h. Oh my God! You're overestimating me! I can't handle such a heavy ordeal." An intoxicated Victoria fingered the beer cans on the table. Meanwhile, her two best friends, Leona and Tessa, just sat and watched what she was doing. "Hmm? Let me get some more." Victoria staggered up from her seat and stomped over to the fridge. Seeing this, Tessa, who was getting annoyed, opened her voice. "Victoria, we're out of beer." "I don't want any either," Leona said. Victoria's steps stopped. "Then we'll just have wine," she said happily. She ran over on her tiptoes and picked up a bottle of neatly arranged wine on the table. However, her mood immediately changed 180 degrees when she saw the flower pot on the table. Please speak to me nicely. Victoria read the inscription on the flower pot and erupted a moment later. "Speak nicely? How can I? Everything is ruined! Do you want me to talk nicely? You're wrong, but you don't want to be blamed? You think someone will comfort you? Wake up! In this cold and harsh world, no one is on your side! People are waiting for your downfall. People are happy that you're unhappy!" She yelled at the flowerpot in a loud voice. Leona and Tessa couldn't take it anymore, so they both got up from their seats. "Let's get her to bed," Leona said. They continued to persuade Victoria to enter the bedroom, even though she kept trying to avoid and refuse. But Leona and Tessa knew this kind of Victoria could not be tolerated. Even if she had to be half dragged, they had to get her into the room. They understood that she was at the lowest point of her life. To be betrayed by the person she had been with for almost 12 years was not easy to accept. The pain must have been unbearable. It's natural for Victoria to be the way she is today.
