Chapter 5

Bang! A bullet whizzed by in the distance. Lyn crouched down and then rolled to the left, while Kai immediately dodged to the right. A moment later, a fire truck arrived on the street in front of the house. The firefighters immediately got out of the car and were busy preparing to put out the fire that had burned the house almost to the ground. At the same time, Kai and Lyn immediately ran towards Lyn's car, which was currently still in the east. After arriving near the car, they immediately got into the back of the car. "Get out of here!" Lyn ordered her men sitting on the driver's seat. "Yes, ma'am," Lyn's man replied as he stepped on the accelerator. He drove the car past the firefighters quietly. After a few passes of the fire engines, Lyn finally let out a long breath, and at the same time, Kai suddenly threw Lyn's g*n into Lyn's lap. Lyn, who was shocked by the g*n, quickly pulled out a needle from her bracelet and spontaneously attacked Kai. Meanwhile, Kai immediately parried Lyn's attack with his arm. "Akh!" Kai sighed loudly as the needle wounded his arm. Instantly, Lyn realized and immediately moved her hand away from Kai's arm. "Sorry, I overreacted when I felt like I was in danger," she said while looking at Kai's injured arm. Kai then looked at the needle in Lyn's hand. "You're very well trained," he said and then turned to look at Lyn's face. Lyn let out a long breath and then put the needle back into her bracelet casually. "Thank you for the compliment." After finishing inserting the needle into her bracelet, Lyn then looked back at Kai. "Oh, maybe after this you will feel dizzy and faint, but don't worry, my poison won't kill you before six hours," she said casually. Kai's eyes rounded. "Poison?" A moment later Kai's head started to feel dizzy, and he pointed at Lyn's face. "You..." He didn't finish his sentence and immediately fainted. Kendric, who had been sitting beside the driver's seat, immediately looked back. "Is the poison really harmless to him?" He asked while looking at Lyn, who was currently correcting Kai's body position. "No, maybe he'll just be paralyzed," Lyn replied while sitting back in her seat comfortably. Kendric glared. "Paralyzed?" "Don't worry, it'll only be a temporary paralysis because I have the antidote," Lyn replied. "It's just that the antidote is at my place, so maybe the paralysis he feels will be a little longer because it takes a few hours to get to my place." Kendric gaped at Lyn's answer. 'This woman is beautiful and looks like an innocent girl on the outside, but she's cruel and horrible on the inside; it's only fitting that Kai could be rude to her earlier,' he thought while swallowing his saliva. "Miss, can I know who you are and why you're helping us?" Asked Kendric as he turned to look at Kai. "Who exactly I am, you'll find out once we get to my place. And as for the question of why I helped you guys," Lyn turned her head and looked at Kai's face. "It's because two years ago I was in prison and he helped me." "Helped? How could he help you in prison?" asked Kendric as he frowned. Lyn turned to look at Kendric. "Your brother's life in prison is very comfortable; he's a respected person in Wister prison. Of course he can save me," she replied curtly. "Is it really like that? Every month I come to visit him, but he never tells me about it," Kendric replied and then returned his gaze to the front. Lyn let out a harsh sigh. "What do you expect from a stone man like him?" "Stone man, didn't you say he saved you? Why do you say he's like a stone?" Asked Kendric while looking at Lyn through the center glass. "Your brother did save me and kept me calm inside the prison at first, but in the end he was also the one who made me unable to enter this country for two years. As annoying as your brother is, I plan to keep him paralyzed for a little longer," Lyn said while glancing back at Kai. "I beg you not to do it. Right now my father is still in the hands of the enemy; I can't possibly save my father alone," Kendric quickly replied. Lyn turned to stare at the windshield of the car beside her. "Is the enemy you're referring to his former father-in-law?" "You know Thomas Burden?" asked Kendric while clenching his fists. Lyn suddenly smiled. "A foolish man like your brother deserves to be betrayed by those people. I told him about what happened outside, but he chose to believe in the rotten promises of those he trusted and punished me for telling him the truth. What a fool!" 'It seems Kai and this woman's relationship can't be called good, but it can't be called bad either,' Kendric thought with a long sigh. "I can't argue about this because I also told him about his and Anchi's divorce papers, but he just assumed that they were fake papers made by one of his enemies. Kai is so stupid; just because Anchi saved him during the war, he immediately loved Anchi wholeheartedly and thought that Anchi was an angel, even though Anchi did that because she had another purpose. Even during his three years in prison, Burden's family never once visited him, and he still believed in them. I guess his brain is just filled with bullets and the Fronch flag." Lyn suddenly laughed at Kendric's words. "Why?" asked Kendric as he looked at Lyn through the center mirror. "It's nice to hear that there are other people who also think he's a fool," Lyn replied while still laughing occasionally. Meanwhile, Kendric could only sigh at Lyn's words. Three hours passed; finally, they arrived at the old Hancock family mansion. Lyn immediately ordered people to take Kai and Kendric into the guest room while she took the medicine in another room. "Kai, it turns out that woman is the granddaughter of Slender Hancock; do you also know about this?" Said Kendric, who was currently standing by the bed while looking around the room. After a while, Lyn finally came back into the room along with a few other people. "I'll give him the antidote right away," said Lyn while walking quickly towards Kai's bed. After injecting the medicine into Kai's arm, Lyn put the syringe on the nightstand. She immediately sat next to Kai and then brought Kai's head to rest on her shoulder. Kendric and everyone in the room immediately frowned at that, except for a man who was already 80 years old. The old man just let out a long sigh at his granddaughter's behavior. "Kai, wake up," Lyn said as she patted Kai's cheek repeatedly until it turned red. 'I think she's doing that on purpose,' Kendric thought as he grimaced at Lyn's continuous patting until Kai finally opened his eyes. Kai hissed when he opened his eyes; he immediately shook his head because his vision was still blurry. But suddenly he felt someone hugging him tightly. "Honey, I'm glad you're awake," said Lyn, who was currently hugging Kai strongly. Kai, who could already see clearly, immediately looked at Lyn. "Honey?" muttered Kai, who felt confused. "Couple relationships don't always go smoothly; I hope you can forgive Lyn's impulsive behavior. I have also reprimanded her; she will not repeat the same mistake in the future," said Mr. Slender. Kai immediately turned to Mr. Slender, and instantly his eyes rounded when he saw Mr. Slender's face. "Grandpa, he doesn't know that I'm your granddaughter," Lyn said in a spoiled tone. "Please, explain it to him so he won't get angry with me." Kai, who didn't know anything, immediately looked back at Lyn. Mr. Slender let out a long sigh once again. "Kai, do you still remember me?" Kai looked back at Mr. Slander. "Of course, I remember you," Kai replied quickly. "Lyn is my granddaughter; she's a little spoiled and often impulsive, but she's got a good heart. I hope you don't misunderstand her," said Mr. Slender. Then Lyn hugged Kai's arm. "Previously I didn't tell you about my true identity because I wanted to know your sincerity, and after everything I've decided I want to live together with you forever." Kai immediately looked back at Lyn. "What do you mean?" Lyn then smiled warmly. "Yes, I want to marry you, Kai." Immediately, the three servants and two of Mr. Slender's men clapped their hands when they heard Lyn's words. Meanwhile, Kai immediately looked at Lyn, who was still smiling warmly. 'What is she planning?' he thought. Meanwhile, from near the door, a servant could be seen peeking at the matter. "I have to tell the big Master about this problem," she muttered while clenching her hands into fists. Then she quickly walked away from the place while taking out her cell phone.
