As I returned to Corain, my conversation with Alaric lingered in my mind, even though I tried not to dwell on it. The sadness and disappointment I saw on his face before I walked out of his office tore at my heart but it was needed.
Goddess knows that if I stayed one more second in there with him, I’d damn it all and tell him the truth.
