LEILA’S POV
I moaned, turning on my side as I folded in on myself. There was a slight change in my breathing as I awakened from my slumber. My hands tightened around the pillow I hugged to my chest as I slowly opened my eyes and just lay there, staring into the darkness.
I didn’t know how long it took me to move from my position, but when I did, it was to release a yawn and also stretch my cramped muscles. I was just about to settle back into bed when I caught Alaric’s gaze. I flinched, stifling my scream, causing it to come out instead as a squeak.
